I'm a brand new DM and I need help creating stats and abilities for 2 custom monster's in my campaign. I've decided to run my first campaign loosely based on "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" for the sake of having some structure, but as I'm sure many DM's here already know, the player's sure do like to throw wrenches in EVERYTHING! :D I consider myself lucky tho, as all 4 of my player's are also brand new to D&D, so I can just pull s**t outta my a** and we all still have a great time. :D
What I need help with is designing 2 high level boss monsters that my players will be having a close encounter with during our next session. If anyone here is familiar with "The Witcher 3" (Best game EVER! lol) the 2 character's names are "Eredin" (currently thinking around lvl 15) and "Caranthir" (currently thinking around lvl 10). I have some idea's for their abilities, which are based on what they can do in the game, but I don't really have any clue as to what their stats should be or how I can translate their "in-game" abilities to D&D. Any advice what-so-ever would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks for any help! Cheers! :D
Edit: OH! I should also mention that both Eredin and Caranthir are planned to be return characters for when my players are closer to their respective levels. Just FYI. :P
Hey! If you have the monsters manual you can always reskin characters to suit your needs (I do it all the time).
Maybe you could make Eredin a Death Knight (appropriate for level 17 party members give or take), and tweak his skills and actions or just rename them.
Caranthir could be something like an Arch Mage (level 12ish) with ice spells.
