My party encountered Tekeli-li in Rime of the Frostmaiden last night. He successfully attacked one of them then turned to mist and fled, (as suggested in the rules) but just made the save from being hit with a Moonbeam spell. If I’m understanding correctly if you fail a save on being hit with a moonbeam from our party’s Druid he would have been unable to shape change to hyena or mist form and would likely have been dispatched right there, ruining that part of the campaign. Any suggestions on how to slowly drain the party and deal with the moonbeam?
Simplest solution is probably just to amp his power up a little bit and give him some Legendary Resistances, so if he's hit by - and fails the save against - Moonbeam in the future he can choose to succeed.
Good idea, though I don’t want to destroy the rarely used Moonbeam and frustrate players. Think I’ll go with giving him advantage on the save and using my judgement, and fudging it when necessary. Thanks.
