Since Christmas is in a month I wondering if I should do a campaign based on the movies and the HBO max animated series gremlins
1. Should I adapt the mogwai rules into the forgotten realms/ feyrun
2. If I were to bring in gizmo as one of the main characters would I need to acknowledge the events of both gremlins (1984) and gremlins 2 the new batch (1990)
3. If I were to do chaos In neverwinter with the gremlins causing havoc would i make a encounter with the campaigns version of brain Gremlin and would I need to establish the campaigns equivalent of stripe (or a reincarnation of stripe if Mohawk is to be belived)
4. Should I set the campaign after the events of gremlins 2
5. If I want to establish a way for gizmo to end up in the forgotten realms would I need a well known villian from dnd lore as the main antagonist
6. And should I use a gizmo plushie if im going to roleplay as the titular mogwai
My advise would be to use the rules and descriptions of the Gremlins but don't necessarily use the exact Characters. Its like taking homebrewed content and altering it to fit your needs. I have done that with numerous weapons and artifacts that I have found on line. this is a fun story you are telling and I won't notice any copyright infringement lol
Are you referring to running an adventure, or an entire campaign. An adventure would work great, but I don't think it would be possible to make an entire campaign around tiny, chaotic creatures.

1. why not, but as a disclaimer, not sure what you mean as a detail. If it is the rules to prevent a gremlin from appearing, are you keeping track of time? Most campaigns do not. How do you ensure it is 11:58pm and not 12:02 am? The game does not support that detailed of time.

3. depends on how close do you want this to be. Like any good movie, the campaign should be based, not a replica of an idea/event. Use/take artistic license to make the story flow vice be on a time table.
4. Your choice, if you think it will overall create a better story. Or the campaign can be used to prevent the sequel?
5. This is all fantasy, just have him show up. See answer 2. Do not replicate the movies, but use them as inspiration and general guidelines. Include all of the characters you want, maybe have them as different races/classes to fit better in a D&D world.

Lastly, how well do the players know the movies? If they know them very well, using the movie as inspiration will keep them guessing. if you use the movie as canon, then they know everything and will have a minimal of surprise.
