this campaign was the best for me to DM it was a bit confusing as im a new time DM but thats not your fault at all i just needed a bit more timing to understand but it was a really fun campaign to play thank-you
I was in the same boat. New to D&D with mostly new players. My only experience was listening to the Adventure Zone. We did a few one shots to get used to the rules and stuff and then I chose Dragon Heist because its supposed to be only 5 levels and cause it just seemed more exciting than the starter set. Most experienced people would suggest Lost mines of Phandelver.
However, I am having a really good time with Dragon Heist but it is a more complex story and will require a lot of work ahead of time. I personally feel like its worth choosing something you are excited about as long as you know it might be more work. Also, my players did something in their first one off that i am now building on and I have been modifying the adventure to incorporate everyone's back story. I suspect we will continue into a Homebrew through level 20 once this adventure ends. So its never to early to start your own thing!
I ran Dragon of Icespire Peak first and I’d say that’s a good module although it does in my opinion have too much combat (which I toned down). It’s overall good because of an easy and simple story (unlike my current campaign). It also provides a link for a free set of modules after which are redeemable on D&D beyond if you get the paper copy via the essentials kit.
I am new to D&D got into it from a firend. But I don't have the time to sit down and make a campaign, to play. So what do I do. Also how do I change my username.
