Hey guys, since one of my current adventures revolves around a portal to the Abyss, I was thinking of introducing a glabrezu to offer them some magic items in exchange for "errands". All of the items will have belated curses on them. Any ideas?
btw, my party consists of a bear totem barb, an eldritch knight fighter, a draconic sorcerer, an assassin rogue, a life cleric/lore bard, and a life cleric/hunter ranger
I'm assuming you'd want something that's not too powerful?
Sorcerer: An Abyssal Gem. Rare magic item. It works similarly to an Elemental Gem, but summons instead an Abyssal Elemental (note: not actually an elemental, but if it looks like an elemental, acts like an elemental...), using the statistics of a Blistercoil Weird, except that it is a Fiend (demon) and Chaotic Evil. Not technically a cursed item, but the elemental is free to act according to its alignment. Essentially a one-time use distraction.
Eldritch Knight: A Nine Lives Stealer with no modifiers to attack. Any time the sword steals the life-force of a creature, that creature's soul is funneled to the Abyss, where it becomes a lesser demon in service to the glabrezu. This can come back to bite them in the ass later. The same happens to the wielder if they die while holding the sword, making resurrection magic futile on them.
Barbarian: a Blood Spear. Once attuned to it, the character can't regain hit dice from long rests.
Any: A Candle of Invocation, except that the Glabrezu can use it from any point in the multiverse to cast Gate while it is lit, destroying the candle in the process.
It's CR 4. You could maybe find it online somewhere, if you're okay with that. The Cursed Luckstone gives advantage on an ability check of the player's choice, but imposes disadvantage on two future checks (I think)
This amethyst contains the trapped essence of a ravenous demon. When you use an action to break the gem, a chasme is summoned as if you had cast the spell summon greater demon as a 5th level spell, and the gem's magic is lost. As a part of breaking the gem, you can form a circle on the ground with the gem's broken shards. The circle is large enough to encompass your space. While the spell lasts, the summoned demon can’t cross the circle or harm it, and it can’t target anyone within it.
Seems good. A real magic item would probably specify that the chasme isn't under player control, but since this is from an ******* demon, not getting to know that is to be expected.

oof, I don't have GoS, nor do I have GGtR. I guess for the Blistercoil Weird I could use a modified demon or fire elemental. What's the Weird's CR?

what about this for the abyssal gem?

well it is, until it succeeds on its Charisma save (i should probably list the save DC tho)
