Hey! I have not read the entire campaign, nor have I ever played Dark Souls, but even from looking at it a little, this is a really cool grimdark-type campaign! My players really like dungeon-crawler type things, so I may run this, or at least steal some of the dungeons to add to my game. Honestly, an amazing job!!
1st off its an amazing game and you should try it XD
2nd even if you arent familiar with the game lore, the mechanics and dungeons are great. Most of my players were not familiar with Dark souls at all and they loved everything about the campaign. Having your souls as a XP/ currency resource made things easy to manage. The Bonfire as checkpoints made better sense than taking random long rests in the middle of a dungeon. The Death mechanics made them more scared to die since they were at risk of losing their XP they had and created intense moments when only 1 player was left alive in situations.
Yea, I have seen some of my friends play it, and it seems pretty consistent. It's nice to have some variant rulesets to spice things up :)
I will! I am planning to plop some of those dungeons (altered for base 5e) into my Tomb of Annihilation game, should be exciting! Maybe we will even run the campaign in full after ToA. Very cool stuff all around!
I agree that a part two that flows together with the former is in order, but I made my own part two( It was a lot easier for me since I have played dark souls 1 before but only a bit of research is needed.)
