Hey guys, totally new DM here. So im running a game for my family and my brother wanted to roll play as a kind of Demons Slayer (Demon Slayer is a anime btw) inspired samurai type character and asked me if it was okay for him to make up some of his own homebrew spells based loosely on the fighter manuver system, and we got to work workshopping the homebrew manuvers/spells. And I was just wondering if i could get some feedback on them, like if they seem balanced according to the spell level and such, I did my best finding similar spells from the players handbook and taking inspiration from them. I have pasted the new spells below.
Breath of Ki First form: Blinking Slash
Cost 1: min Ki charge
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range: Self (5 feet)
2th level Monk ability
You draw your sword quicker than the human eye can see, dealing weapon damage plus extra damage; the extra damage is 1d8, plus 1d8 for each additional Ki, upto a maximum of 4d8 slashing damage (4 Ki).
Breath of Ki Second form: Glowing Cut
Cost 3: Ki charge
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range: Self (5 feet)
4th level Monk ability
You start to infuse your weapon with Ki, and make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, bright glowing wounds appear on the creature, dealing an additional 3d8 radiant damage.
Breath of Ki Third form: Burning Thrust
Cost: 3 Ki
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range: Self (60-foot line)
Target: Self (60-foot line)
8th level Monk ability
When you thrust, a burst of fire blasts forward in a 60 feet long and 5 feet wide blast from you in a direction you choose. Each creature must succeed on a Dex saving throw. A creature takes 2d12 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save.
Breath of Ki Forth form: Dance of the Sun
Cost: 5 Ki
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range Self (5-foot cone)
Target: 3 creatures in a 5 foot cone
10th level Monk ability
You use Ki to perform a Dance of the Sun, engulfing an area equal to a 5 foot cone in front of you in fire burning like the sun. Each creature must succeed on a Dex saving throw. A creature takes 3d10 fire damage and 1d8 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save.
Thank you for reading this, and if you have responded thank you kindly for that as well.
