Hello I am new to posting so sorry if in wrong place, I was wondering if there is a way to create a spell that when cast it rolls 1d10 to choose from the elemental types then rolls the damage for that type. Similar to Chaos Bolt.
I have messed around with it a lot but cannot find the modifier or code that is causing dnd beyond to recognize that chaos bolt is being cast so pick an element based on number.
Currently I think only the devs have access to that. Or try making multiple damages if you still can't choose than you need to have the actual spell Chaos Bolt bought so you can copy to create a new spell.
D&DB doesn't have the functionality to select from a set of damage types, like for Chromatic Orb. It also doesn't have the functionality to automatically assign damage type based on the roll, like for Chaos Bolt. Beyond20 has hard-coding to do this specifically for Chaos Bolt, and I assume that's what you're using? The regular D&DB homebrewer won't be able to replicate the effect because it's not part of their code.
