I've been putting together a Simic Hybrid Order of the Lycan Blood Hunter Celebrity Adventurer's Scion. Utilizing UA I'm taking the Brawny Feat and dipping 2 Levels in Ranger for Favored Foe and Unarmed Fighting style.
It's a fun grapple build. Nothing amazing but it's been getting the job done. Advantage on Str checks, Double Proficiency on Athletics, Grapple as a Bonus Action and lots of little Boosts to damage; Claws and Crimson Rite damage increase with level, Hunter's Mark, and a d4 from hitting them when grappled.
@ReaverBroodCleaverI have a goliath blood hunter order of the profane soul and one of the spells I choose was blood magic (it's a homebrew by a guy named CrackJack) and one of the options is to make a weapon out of the blood as you described but my dm let me use it to augment my glaive instead (reach weapon+sentinal is just broken) and add the damage while only making one attack roll. Also for you, I would recommend the tough and durable feats for the health/healing boosts or medium armor master for the AC bonus so that you're harder to hit. You could also encourage one of your teammates to get Inspiring Leader for the temp hp. Another thing is that I'm not sure why you're burning hp so fast bc it's only 1d4 per rest or disarming.
I made a bbeg that is a changeling Blood Hunter (order of the Lycan) and is a follower of Malar. They blend in with hunting parties before going hybrid and turning on the party. Changeling so they can always appear as someone or something different.
I'm a variant human Order of the Profane Soul. My dm let me use a double-sided glaive, and with the polearm master feat that I got from variant human I'm able to build up some pretty insane damage. Can I just bring up the fact that variant human is absolutely op?
Kalashtar is a great race if you choose order of lycan, because they automatically have advantage on wisdom saves. That way you are not very likely to harm your own party.

I'm considering grabbing Hex somehow.
Shadar-Kai with the Haunted One background make for a marvelous emo character to role-play. :)
Air genasi or earth genasi are one of races for blood hunter, in my opinion
I've been playing a goliath blood hunter (order of the profane soul) with an absurd amount of feats but hey my DM oked it based on my backstory (was Lvl 20 for a long time serving Zariel) https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Nordic_Greek/characters/27444972

Making a shader Kai blood hunter and insight on this?
Hello, I was having the same issue but I decided to create a homebrew race for it, please comment if you have any suggestions. https://www.dndbeyond.com/races/1452258-hemovar
