If you took the dodge action on one round of combat then declared to carry on an imitation of dodge the next round. how would you handle it?
I know ultimately will come down to the DM but curious what the community feel of the idea.
In my thinking would be a Performance check contested by either Perception or Insight. Winning Performance contest keeps the disadvantage to attack, Losing throws advantage to the attack, Knowledge is power after all. Would also say as committed to the illusions have disadvantage on Dex saves
Intent - Build a Fighter/Monk who is a cocky sword fighter, essentially dancing about the front line boasting that no one can hit them. using the monk Ki to bonus action dodge . They will keep bopping and weaving about on the front line. looking to go Battle master so they Riposte if combat is only against one opponent, Defensive Duellist feat to block a potential hit That gets through. I know build will be far from optimal but can see it being a fun change of pace.
Obviously Ki is a limited resource, more so at early levels when the enemies are more likely to be lured in by this fighter. So started thinking of ways to stretch it without giving a "noticeable" weakness in the dodging. Which a performance bluff - dodge is what I've thought might be the way to go.
P.S - I know "Cloak of Displacement" is a potential way to achieve this, but that doesn't fit the personality I'm imagining.
Thank you all for your input
