I love the idea of the Chef Feat but it seems criminally underpowered compared to the other general feats available. I made a buff for it that acts in a similar fashion to Paladin’s lay on hands but with rolls determined by the quality of the food provided.
Buffed 2024 Chef Feat
Prerequisite: level 4+
Increase CON or WIS +1
Proficiency in Chef’s Utensils
Cook: At the end of a long rest, you may spend 1 hour cooking food that will give you an amount of food points. Eating these treats can restore 1 HP per point expended. The amount of points you have is determined by the quality of materials you possess:
Low: d2 x Character’s Level
Medium: d4 x Character’s Level
High: d6 x Character’s Level
Premium: d8 x Character’s Level
Harvest: the player may make a sleight of hand check to gather materials from their environment to be used in cooking. This may be done at advantage if the character is holding chef’s utensils.
Bribe: as an action, the player may spend up to 10 points to add half as much to a persuasion or deception ability check (ie. spending 8 points will earn a +4 bonus).
DC Low quality: 10
DC Medium quality: 15
DC High quality: 20
