Alright, so this is my first poke at homebrew. I've taken a month and checked for like content and the such tweaking the subclass to be balanced. However, I admit that there are many that can give feedback on how it can be better balanced or what it may need. The idea for it is that I wanted a video game type thief that can somehow magically take health and such and then i proceeded to go further than that. The most, in terms of dnd 5e, balanced way I thought to do this is to have a god bestow powers on a rogue the same way a god would bestow upon a cleric. Instead of bestowing spells though, the god would just bestow boon's that would let a thief further their already developed techniques. Now that you have the idea, here's the subclass.
Aeber’s Chosen- Rogue Archetype
Aeber (aka. Prince of thieves) [Chaotic neutral]- Patron deity of thieves
Aeber is a god known by few. To thieves who know of him, he is an embodiment of freedom. To the orthodox religions he is known as a heretical god. Outside of these groups Aeber is simply a word and nothing more.
A select few rogues hone their skills to a degree that it is noted even by the gods themselves. Through the power of the patron deity Aeber, your skills have improved to a point where you can see and harness source, an energy that resides in and flows through all living beings. Even though these few have received divine assistance, they are bound by nothing, unlike a cleric or paladin. Instead, the rogue must simply agree to serve Aeber in death. Many see this as heresy, causing these few to have rough relations with more devout religions.
