As I was skimming through the 4e DMG, I came across an interesting pro tips sidebar talking about an initiative variant that one of the game designers used in beginner games. He would roll initiative, as normal, and whoever rolled the highest went first, as normal, but from there he would go clockwise around the table. This idea struck me as interesting, because i hate having to write down the initiative order when combat starts, and I can never remember who goes next. What do you think about this rule?
well their initiative bonuses might not mean as much, but they still determine who goes first. but thats a good point, it's just last time i ran a game, that and the monster manual looking-upping were a pain
