I've taking a few various attempts at modifying preexisting monsters, as well as creating new ones. Recently I was inspired by the article "How to Play a Chimera like a Mythic Amalgamation" by James Haeck, and have been delving deep into the chimera. It's something I plan to make a central focus of my current campaign I am running. Firstly though, I reexamined the original chimera stat block, and after some number crunching, it seemed to me that it was slightly too powerful for a CR 6 creature (the amount of damage it can deal in a round is crazy). So, I made a revision of the original chimera to remedy this, as well as to try and showcase more aspects of it aside from the over-represented dragon portion. I've linked to the homebrew stat block below. I'd appreciate any feedback on how I might further improve it!

I like it. Chimera goes from a solid low-level monster to a solid mid-level monster.
