I wanted some opinions on a rule I've been toying with for recovering spell slots on short rest.
'All spell-casting classes may use their Hit die to recover spell slots instead of health only during a short rest. The player takes the total amount rolled on their hit die and halves it, rounded down, and that is the total pool they have for recovering slots (min 1). Each slot is worth an amount of points equal to their slot level. The cost increases to 2x slot level for any slots above 5 level and 3x slot level for a 9 level slot.'
So a little edit to make up for wizards.
Wizards Arcane recovery ability now allows them to turn their D6 hit die into D10 spell die and use any excess Spell points they may have as Hp if there are no spell slots available to replenish. The spell die become D12 at level 10.
Extra complicated. Simplify the rule. If I have to think about it, too much work.
Right now Wizards just get half their level on a short rest. Short, simple. sweet. If I were to increase this, I would simply make it 1d4 per level rather than +1 per level, keeping the limit of no higher than 5th

Very interresting, the post is 5 years old but I was thinking about it right now. Did you test it ?
