Gwin's DC 15 Dex with Brevig's +3 Aura of Protection
6
Gwin feels the hag's arms wrap around her tight. Unable to break free she casts Command and orders the hag to release her, grateful to for Brevig's bracelet around her wrist as she feels her strength bolstered.
Fargoth tracks the hag with his bow, waiting for a moment in the struggle where he could minimise the chance of hitting Gwin. He releases his arrow as it disappears into the fog.
Attack: 25
Damage: 27
The elf chooses this time to splash back across the river, now that time was of the essence.
Gwin, speaking in Giant, commands the hag to release her, but the giant fey merely chuckles in response and uses one of her hands to grip the cleric by the hair.
Fargoth's arrow finds its mark, causing the hag to snarl in pain and lose her focus on the fog cloud she has conjured. Suddenly, all combatants are visible...
Ashento charges the hag. Mounted upon the steed, when he is in range, Brevigrepeates his attack from before, leans forward, smashing into the hag with his shield, and bringing his morning star up and over to pulverize it. If the spiked steel spheres hit, divine radiance explodes from the impact. He reinvigorates the protective runes circling around him.
Move to M-14 to Ram, and allow Brevig to attack while mounted.
Ram. +5 to hit (1d6 + 3) bludgeoning. Attack: 10/ Damage: 8 Charge damage (add): 8
Charge. If the elk moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a ram attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra (2d6) damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If knocked prone:
Clutching the struggling Gwin, the annis hag calmly stares down the charging paladin. Ashento's horns and hooves fail to make contact as the giant steps deftly aside, but Brevig's morning star, shimmering with radiance, smashes into the hag twice. Exuding an eerie confidence, the hag locks eyes with her next foe...

Donir rushes at the twisted fey, bringing his arm back. He strikes with unusual strength and speed at her side, her stomach, and her legs, with the technique of a skilled martial artist combined with the raw power granted by his gauntlet. Each blow sounds out like a crack of thunder, as if he were striking out with all the force of a raging storm.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
The night momentarily turns to day as Patrin's magical bolt streaks through the air and collides with the annis hag. The smug look on the giant's face fades away as she looses her grip on Gwin. For a split second, it seems as if the hag might have a bit more fight in her, but after taking one step toward Donir she crashes headlong into the ground.
Brevigdismounts, messages 'See to the horses, friend,' to Ashento, and the paladin claps Donir and Patrin on the shoulders, forcefully squeezing his esteem."I shall have to remember not to make either of you angry." He locks eyes with Gwin, asking 'are you all right?' without asking.
Gwin gives a tired wink to the paladin. I am well, friend, once I get the hag's reek off of me. Picking small branches out of her hair the cleric puts her hand on the Warlock's arm, but addresses the entire party. Indeed, I am grateful for such companions. I am in your debt and will repay at the earliest opportunity.
The hill dwarf then kneels in the dirt, lights a stick of incense, and takes a moment to send prayers of praise to Tyr.

‘There’s no debt, Gwin. We stand together...’ he says, leaving the rest unspoken, as he habitually touches a pendant hanging around his neck, one depicting a pair of eyes surrounded by a ring of stars.
‘I’ll go and look for the boy. No need for him to be scared any longer than needed.’ he says, walking into the tunnel, eyes gleaming with determination...
Nothing is found upon the bodies of the trolls and the hag, but within the cave (more specifically, inside a hollowed-out portion of a log), the search reveals two large sacks. The first one is fashioned from some sort of skin--skin that seems eerily human--and it contains a host of items:
One giant-sized bone comb
One bag of salt
One dagger pommel
One shovel
One sewing kit containing two bone needles and a large spool of horse-tail hair
One headless doll
Three humanoid skulls
Four large teeth, probably molars from a donkey or horse
Three leather pouches full of coins (130 copper, 330 silver, 815 gold, and 15 platinum)
One crudely-made wooden box that contains four gemstones (1 amethyst, 2 pieces of jade, and 1 spinel) that you estimate to be worth 100 gold pieces each
The second sack is slightly larger than the first and is made of cloth. Within it, bound and gagged, is the child Emrick. The boy is filthy and terrified but otherwise healthy and unharmed. He is able to explain that he found an iron ring that allowed him to speak with a kind, old woman who needed his help.
Piecing together Emrick’s somewhat jumbled retelling of the events, you understand that he probably did not see the annis hag in her true form but, rather, in some sort of disguised, more appealing form. He has been stuffed away in the log for days and was allowed a few times each day to drink some water, eat some burned pieces of fish, relieve himself, and stretch his legs. He was aware that the old woman (the annis hag) would often speak with two men with very big voices (the trolls), but they used a language he did not understand. You also conclude that when Emrick was allowed to eat and walk around the trolls were never nearby. The old woman often promised Emrick that other children would arrive soon and be his playmates.
“She broke that promise,” remarks the boy sullenly. “No friends ever came to play with me.”
Emrick's return to Rauvincross is met with overwhelming gratitude and no shortage of tears. The general consensus among the townspeople is that they lack adequate means to compensate the five of you for the service you have rendered to them. Meals, drinks, and lodging at the town's sole inn is offered free of charge, of course.
Brevig joins Patrin. "If he yet lives, he has been through a terrible ordeal,"and with a quiet word and motion, daylight shines from his palm as he enters the cave. "A new dawn can't come too soon for him, I wager."
In a soft but resonant baritone, the paladin calls, "Emrick, lad. Are you here? Emrick! We are here to bring you home."
Gwin is more than willing to take the townspeople up on their offer. I'm sure with a belly full of food and ale and a good night's sleep, I'll be right as grain.

Once they return home, Donir turns to the others, and gestures towards their loot.
"I suggest we gift the money we have found to the people of this town. They have suffered a mighty loss, even if we have found Emrick, and I suspect times will be hard on them if we leave now without helping them. The hag has taken so much from them, so in return I believe what once belonged to her now belongs to them by right. They would be able to get the most use out of the coins, and the alchemy jug would be a wonderful boon as well if they should ever fall upon dry times."

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
The council of elders commits the coins to the town's general fund, and Evie takes up the care of the orphan boy. Utterly marveled by the alchemy jug, she can't restrain her laughter as she ponders its possibilities. "The townspeople of Rauvincross are forever in your debt," Evie remarks as she turns toward home.
Patrinis informed that Rauvincross has no formally established temples. "A few small shrines are located within some homes here and there, but that's all."

While eating, drinking, and chatting--and somehow doing all three with equal gusto--at the inn, Gwin (and whoever else is with her) is asked about the party's presence in Rauvincross. "I hear you ain't the ones hired by Hark. Can't help but ask what's brought you to this part of the world. Takin' the long way to Sundabar, maybe?" inquires a hearty mountain dwarf named Bander.
'Thank you Evie. I'd hoped there might be a temple with a font of holy water. Not to worry.' he says, laying a reassuring hand on her arm as they head towards the celebrations...
...
'We're in the area to investigate some of the orc tribes that have been known to raid caravans...' says Patrin, sharing as much as he feels prudent. 'We'd hope to impair their ability to raid caravans and, perhaps, also settlements such as this...'
Brevingenjoys the revelry, and a day without his armor. He spends the afternoon riding slowly through the town, letting children sit upon Ashento with him, and seeking out any elderly or infirm suffering from disease. To them he Lays on Hands. That night, he accepts any drinking challenge and wins, laughing generously. The alcohol seems not to affect him in the slightest. In high spirits, he joins the conversation with Bander and picks up from Patrin, "...and the more we can learn about our foes, the better armed we'll be to discourage them."
