Where the box was is now a pile of smoldering wood and brass, still smoldering. There are burnt scraps of paper everywhere, and two small cases of steel, charred, but intact.

OOC yeah none of us could survive that even with a save.

Cassandra will put out the fires with a little shape water , and then dry (also with shape water) and examine what is left.  She will ritual cast detect magic to inspect the metal tubes, and will try to see if any writing is left on the papers.

She says “Well me goddess saw fit to let us live, so let’s see what all that magic was guardin.  What’s those crims got to hide?” 

The metal cases are entirely nonmagical. The larger one is quite heavy, while the smaller one is very light.

The papers have trace amounts of magic on them, but are entirely useless.

Ok-  well Cassandra will inspect the cases and open them carefully.

The heavy one is opened, and you are greeted with the intense gleam of dozens of Platinum coins, finely polished and tightly packed.

As you may have gathered from the dangerous spell scrolls inside, and the personal delivery by the Earl, this letter is quite important, and well protected. The years of preparation have led to this moment. The Plan will be initiated in three weeks on the new moon, and we must make the final preparations. This moon happens to coincide with the birthday of the king you "serve". Since you inflitrated the Otteran court a decade ago, you have gained the king's trust, and from what I have heard, his friendship. I need you to use to use this to our benefit. Convince the king to declare his birthday a holiday, and have him celebrate in Chelmshurst. Host a massive festival, for all the city. Your letters have told me that you have great influence over the king's treasurer, so spare no expense. Create a celebration so great, no ships would sail by without stopping for the day to partake in the festival. Once the entire bay has been effectively shut down with the gala, the first Wave can sneak in under the darkness of the new moon, undetected and undisturbed.
