Drawing forth a pebble, Zied flings it at Bella to add injury to a focused target. The pebble soars harmlessly into a bare spot of dirt.
Sezsu tries to reach Bella with his spell but the distance is too great.
Alessa is able to move to within 120 feet of Bella and releases a bolt of fire at her, but again the bolt flies too far to the right.
Granny races closer to the mill, while Bella actually turns and races back toward her mother. Offalia, at last, appears between them. Her clothes are torn and bloodied, her face is horribly burned, and she clutches at her side where a gaping wound can be seen through her rags. Yet she wears a look of triumph, turning to greet her mother with a twisted, gleeful grin.
Granny cackles again, and In that instant it seems as though a shroud of fog is lifted from your mind. You recall again your first meeting with Granny. Had you not seen her vile countenance? How could such a... such a monster go unnoticed?
The three hags pause, paying no heed to the intense heat roiling from the burning mill. In its shadow, they stare at you, the hatred in their eyes burning with an intensity to rival the mill.
Granny raises her clawed hands over head, chanting words of power. Her daughters join, calling up to the sky in rapture. Above, the dark clouds begin to spiral round, a vortex appearing within them. Flashings of lightning crackle within it, and even at this distance you can feel a change in air pressure. The hairs on your arm rise up, and the smell of ozone fills the air.
Granny grins wickedly, speaks a final word, and a maddening silence takes hold of the hill. Your own breathing, and the pounding of your heart in your chest, become mute, as the world seems to come to a standstill. All three hags extend their clawed fingers in the direction of the cart.
And then, the mill explodes.
A gigantic plume of fire erupts into the sky. The ground trembles beneath your feet. The shockwave strikes you like a wall, threatening to launch you off of your feet. The cart is forcefully knocked over, spilling the children onto the ground before crashing down over them. Smoke billows up from the building, as meteoric slabs of molten brick jettison up into the sky and arch downward in all directions. The raucous rumbling sings out in harmony with a multifarious cacophony of screams from the hags, cut short as the detonation of arcane power launches them backward into the air.
Burning slabs of debris fly overhead, angling toward you at breakneck speed.
(All PCs are affected. Any creature standing must make a DC 12 Dex saving throw to avoid falling prone. Additionally, you must succeed on another DC 12 Dex saving throw or take 9 bludgeoning damage and 17 fire damage. The children are shielded from this effect by the overturned cart.)
10dex 1 10 dex 2 (Whups used Ashtear's dex bonus. -1 to each of these... so 9 and 9! )
Running up the back, seeing them draw off and group. Zied breathed a sigh of relief--if breathing were an option for him anymore. Still old habits die hard, even after years. As he turns to keep moving the atmosphere sharpens, feeling the static in the air as the magic gathers. Gritting a moment before the explosion takes him from behind.
Unprepared for such a large blast, and having lingered behind Zied has no cover from the pressure wave and flaming debris. Being flung to the ground rolling, knocking himself senseless moments before a bit of burning metal pierces through his chest.
As Regmiir turns his head back to ask the kids whether they had any bright ideas, his sight is instantly overwhelmed by the intensity of the explosion. He watches mouth agape as the cart is lifted during his sprint up and over his head.
Still running, he manages to catch himself now without the cart providing a counterweight for his balance. His timing was perfect, as just at that moment, a huge chunk of molten sidewall sails inches from where he once was. It crashes into the earth, spewing forth numerous fragments that luckily whiz past the dwarf without inflicting collateral damage. Reg gives a silent nod to the Lady, thankful that at least this seemed to be still working within this realm.
The wave of the hot air Alessa ... not dodged, of course, but managed to remain standing. She had to turn away, though, and could not see a piece of the burning wing hurling towards her. The hit knocked the wind out of her, forcing Alessa to bend gasping for air. Yet, to her surprise, she did not die on the spot. Blinking in the hot ashy hurricane Alessa looked around assessing the situation. Kids seemed to be safe as well as Regmiir, while Zied was thrown to the ground and did not move. It did not mean anything (yet) but she tried to limp towards his body to make sure he is not dying for real this time.
Dex (for prone): 14 (or 15 if at advantage due to magic resistance) Dex (for damage): 16 (advantage either from magic resistance or inspiration if necessary...let me know)
Sezsu sees trouble brewing and turns to run faster. The concussive force hits him from behind and knocks him into Ed (we'll see if he falls) but Sezsu manages to keep his footing.
It seems like an eternity before the little priest is able to draw another breath. The ringing doesn't leave his ears but other sounds slowly begin fading in as the impact of flaming debris crashing down around him gives him a focus.
Dazed, he looks around to ascertain what just happened and sees Zied laying on the ground, impaled. Crying out inhumanly, he runs to his friend's side and grips the burning metal with his bare hands and pulls with all the strength his small frame can muster.
(Not sure if that will require an action or not, but the plan is to cast cure wounds with the next available action whether this round or next.)
Regmiir slowed his sprint to a jog, then to a walk, then stopped and blinked twice. Holy hells, he thought as he shook his head in disbelief at the recent turn of events. They got lucky, really lucky with the way the chaos played out. That's understandable, he reasoned, considering that he wouldn't have somehow made it here to tip the scales if She didn't wish it.
The cries of pain from Zied and exclaimation from the group snapped him back to the moment. Seeing Sezsu rush over to lend aid, Reg thought immediately of the children. He rushed over, turned the blackened cart over, and sighed in relief to see them unscathed. "Seems t'Lady smiled upon yeh too, eh?" he grinned as he stroked his beard. "Now if yeh don't mind me asking, what's yeh names? Are yeh 'urt?"
Ed is flung from his feet by the explosion's shockwave. Landing hard he tries to rocover his senses, the ringing in his ears disorienting him failing to gather his wits, he is unable to notice the large chunks of debris now falling directly at him. Taking the full blow from a large chunk of the windmil's outer wall, the paladin makes an aubilbe xoofx as the stonework crushes his torso, winding him badly, the energy in the projectile so considerable that it fortunately bounces off Ed to finally rest a few inches from his head.

Sezsu cure wounds @ Zied: 6(I went ahead and ticked off a 1st-level spell slot for Sezsu.)
Sezsu manages to remove the metal stake from Zied's chest and casts a healing spell upon him.
Regmiir finds the children to have suffered some bruises and scuffs, but are relatively unharmed. "Freek," the boy answers shakily. "Myrtle," replies the girl. Both are able to walk.
Ahead, the road descends into a fog-filled valley. In the heart of the valley you see a walled town near the shores of a great mountain lake, its waters dark and still.
(The town is still a long way ahead. Your view is from the perch of the side of a mountain. You can follow the road, which disappears back into the woods, or try to scale down the mountainside.)
Still dazed and confused, Ed looks around the rubble looking for his companions to ensure they survived, the cart that carried the short ones to hopeful safety, and the hags. Though their mill was destroyed he wanted to see thier bodies, make sure that they were no more, that their blight was removed from the land. "I... I can't make out anything. Is anyone still alive?"
It takes a few moments, his vision clears and the ringing in his head settles. He remembers a few blows in training where a mace clipped the back of his helmet, and this was far, far worse a sensation even now. Ed hear's Sezsu muttering some words and vaguely makes out their blurry forms. Standing up, shaky, he half staggers half falls in their direction. By the time he has made it over Sezsu seems to have tended to an otherwise fatal looking wound. Ed sobers and at the knowledge that there are others worse off, he draws in some strength, c"Where are is everyone, did we all make it? Are the hags dead?"
As Seszu pulls the rod from Zied's chest, Seszu and Alessa can see glints of dark metal-scraping against the rod as it is pulled. The thum would be heard-if anyones hearing had survived the explosions. The area around the wound and the metal inside his chest occasional thumps with pulses of energy of different colours. As the wounds close the colour spreads along the healing area before fading. Zied's eyes open instantly and he spits up blood and liquid you can't identify at a glance.
Groggy Zied does not stand up yet and just raises his hand in a thumbs up. And just focuses on feeling his body for a moment. His hands come to his chest and the wound, then fingers running along his ring. Unable to hear anyone from the shock of the explosion and impending death.
Reg acknowledges the children and takes them though a similar line of questioning as Zied and Sezsu had done back in the mill. Upon learning that their parents had sold them to the hags, his blood boiled with fury. At least he could take solace in the fact that the witches had seemingly been eradicated by the blast, though the father and mother would have some explaining should their paths ever cross.
He follows up the questioning with the next logical query, "Eh, where did yeh say yer from again?"For safety sake of not having to keep the children in this dangerous environment much longer, he hoped that their answer would align to the vista of the walled town in the distance.
Once the children answered, he patted them both on the shoulders, "Yeh'll b'right. We'll see yeh make it there safely, promise."and motioned for them to stay put while he rejoined the rest of the crew. On the way, Reg looks around for any signs of the hags, his trusty longsword, and most importantly, evidence that his pack of cigars had made it through the explosion.

After collecting himself for a moment Zied sits up and grabs the now cooling rod that had impaled him. "You failed to kill me. You're mine now." taking it with him to add to his apparent growing collection of things that tried to kill him. Later you shall go near the broken sword.. mayhap I'll turn you both into something someday... Standing up groggly using the rod.

Halfway to Zied Alessa realized, the strike was more shocking and disorienting rather than wounding or even painful. She still had difficulty seeing through the ash-filled air in search of the hags, though, to be completely honest, hags were her second priority. Alessa was looking up, searching for Grano, caught in the hurricane, and thrown aside. He survived (to her great relief) and Alessa called him back.
"I think we are all here. Can not see the hags, hopefully, it means they are too busy tending their wounds. Can you walk? Maybe there is a safe spot down the road to catch a breath, but now it's better to leave the place."
It seemed, thanks to Sezsu's magic, everyone could (walk) and all they needed to do is to join Regmiir and kids now.
