So, the figure is not frightened, but is disarmed-  what is he dropping?

this is the full text for menacing attack:

"When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to frighten the target. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is frightened of you until the end of your next turn."

And it is magical piercing damage.

 Ok cool,  didn't know about that :)   that's why these duels are fun. 

No the first hit was a menacing attack (you decide on the manoeuvre  "when you hit a creature"; so as I only hit once I only used one superiority die). But thought I would put it all in there to speeds up the process.

You hear a "yelp" of pain and fear from him, he scrambles to do something...

He casts "toll the dead" at you-  he uses a Portent die to force you to fail the save.   You take 5 damage

he uses a bonus action to cast healing word on himself, at 2nd level:  [roll]2d4+3[/roll

 OK not sure what happened.  I didn't try to manipulate anything.  :)   toll the dead originally had a 15, and healing word dice roll didn't work.  so I tried to fix the roll for healing word and it recalculated.  Bit of a noobie in these tools.    sorry. 

(when you edit rolls before other rolls; everything is rerolled and thus it is said to be manipulated.)

we can just use 7 for healing word and you take 12 damage :)

Feeling another good hit Josatra gets a bit angrier again. He shoots two bolts in quick succession, twice going for a disarming attack (Str save DC15, on fail first drop is shield, second is the staff).

He finally dwells on his stamina to protect himself from harm.

Attack action (only second attack with sharpshooter):

Attack 1: 28 Damage: 15
Attack 2: 6 Damage: 22

Bonus action second wind healing for 13

OOC thanks.   It put the recalculated roll at the top of the post, so I guess that's what did it.  :)

The first bolt goes right into the small figure's chest again, and it tries to hold onto it's shield:  15

He takes 15 damage, 

Bonus action:  he casts healing word 1st level 6

and he does another toll the dead- forcing you to fail the save:  using his last portent die,  13

Reeling in pain and fear, the small figure tries to pull himself together, never having faced such a lethal foe... the sound of a bell over the elf sounds, and necrotic energy surrounds him, at the same time, the figure heals himself some, but it is too small an amount-  the next blow to him may be his last..   he reaches down to recover his shield.

Feeling another hit of necrotic damage Josatra knows he should finish this fast to survive.  Steadying his crossbow he fires of three shots in quick succession trying to disarming his opponent yet again (again first shield than staff at DC15 STR save).

Attack1 : 25 Damage: 15
Attack 2: 13 Damage: 12

Attack (bonus): 17 Damage: 18

one of the bolts aims true, and shoots right into the small creature's chest,  he collapses at 0 HP.

I'd love to see your character sheet,  I have'nt played a 5e fighter yet.   I might have done better with different tactics and better rolls ;)

Seeing the wizard fall down, Josatra stands still for a moment, waiting for the rush to go down a bit before blowing the horn for his victory tune; pleasuring the crowds as always.
