Zyllith turns to Arisa, placing a hand lightly against the cleric's arm as she says, "Let'im waste his gold then. No' worth participatin' in this farce." Leaning in with a quiet whisper so only Arisa can hear, she adds, "I promise we'll get yer gem another way, luv."
Arisa pauses, angry, white-knuckles showing on her staff as she clenches her jaw for a moment, then gives a big sigh.
“While I can pull that sum, or much more, together, I don’t wish to trouble my companions for a loan when there may be other items we need. I yield. May the amulet find a noble purpose worthy of it’s magic in these dark times.”
The man in charge responds, "Very well. Ferghus is the highest bidder at 700 dragons, so the amulet is his."
He then nods to one of the guards, who disappears into the next room and quickly returns with a wooden box, which is places down on the table. The older man opens it up and reveals a beautiful amulet that features a design of diamonds, sapphires and rubies set into intricate metalwork that surround a quarter moon symbol. Arisa can immediately recognize that it portrays the symbol of Corellon Larethain, the Creator and Protector of the Elves.
Ferghus smiles with a wide, gloating grin and says, "The darkness of the times is all a matter of perception, Arisa. While you and your friend here talk of doom and gloom, I see nothing but opportunity ahead of me. That is why I will ultimately succeed in life, while you will be endlessly dragged down by your own penchant for despair."
"At any rate, it was... interesting to see you again. Best of luck to you in your endless quest to save the world from itself."
“I hope I’m wrong, about a lot of things”. Arisa says. She lets her cloak fall aside to reveal her new half plate mail, she had kept it covered to attempt to hide her wealth. The water puddle on the table floats back into her waterskin, she seals it as she turns and looks at Zyllith with a pained smile then heads for the door, fighting the urge to fire-bolt Fergus. “city-folk” she could hear her disgusted mom’s voice saying in her mind’s ear. “We need to get back on the road, Zylith- I think our shopping is done.”
"Tis fine, luv. Go on ahead wit'out me. I've some last minute personal shoppin' ta' mind."Zyllith says, intentionally lagging behind so she can keep an eye on Ferghus. "Oh reminds me thou, if'n ye head back, ask Belkas ta' find me soon as he can, if'n he's willin'. Tell him he might wanna help out with this bit o' shoppin', in case things go south, might be able to get him tha' mats he be needin'."
“Ok, I’ll see you later, thanks for coming with me today” Arisa says and heads back to the Inn, again covering her armor to be less conspicuous. Still shaking a bit with anger from the experience, a walk in the streets will do good, she thinks…
When the proceedings are over, Arisa and Zyllith are led out of the villa and the find themselves back on the streets in the wealthy northern part of Waterdeep. Zyllith lingers, while Arisa heads back to the inn, and a few minutes later, Ferghus emerges from the villa, turns and begins walking back up Feather street, towards Delzorin Street.
As Zyllith parts ways with Arisa she will begin to tail behind Ferghus, keeping her distance to avoid being noticed as much as possible. She will observe for now, in particular keeping an eye on the wooden box with the amulet inside. Of course, if she sees an opportunity to steal the amulet, she will certainly take it. She is a pirate after all.
Belkas immediately notices that Arisa is flustered, distracted, and angry. Her message that Zyllith wants him to help with some shopping makes him figure it isn't precisely bargains they will be hunting. He goes upstairs, takes off his feathered hat, and pulls on his dark cloak, feeling the shadows settle over him like an old friend.
On his way down, he notices Siohban pacing back and forth like a caged animal and says, "Siobhan. Would you like to come with me? Zyllith has asked for some help."
Belkas strides quickly towards Feather Street as Crowley flies invisibly above, watching for Zyllith and any signs of trouble.
Siobhan halts her pacing a moment, nods once, and follows. “If help is needed, I will provide.” Seeing Belkas switched his hat for stealthier clothes, the form that accompanies her companion is the rather lupine shaggy street dog she has worn on many a prowl. She could of course use her innate firbolg magic to disguise herself as one of the more common races, but this is far more comfortable.
Zyllith watches Ferghus leave the villa, place the box in his shoulder back that he holds tightly against his body, and then follows him from a safe distance as he makes the right turn from Father street to Delzorin Street. It's apparent that Ferghus knows his way around the city, and he moves quickly and deftly through the light crowds on the somewhat busy street. Zyllith has to keep her eyes trained on him, because Ferghus almost leaves her sight a couple of times. As far as she can tell, though, Ferghus does not seem to notice Zyllith back there.
After a few blocks, Ferghus turns south on the High Road, and keeps moving south. Zyllith continues to follow him on the now even busier street, which is filled with both foot and cart traffic. At one point, she sees Belkas and Siobhan up ahead, and when they're about 60 feet south of Zyllith, they spot their companion as well, although they do not know that she's actually following someone, they only know that she needed "help" while shopping.
back at the inn, Arisa, still shaking a bit, has a glass of wine which she drinks uncharacteristically quickly, and then retreats to her room. She spends a few minutes in meditation and prayer, then, suddenly hungry, goes back downstairs for a meal. She pulls out her scroll case of notes and spends some time reading and flipping through them.
Zyllith gives her companions a smile and motions subtly for them to follow her, but otherwise continues following Ferghus. She doesn't want to lose her prey. However now that she knows she has allies nearby she will be open to more direct opportunities to take the prize away from him if possible.
Belkas walks down the street and sees Zyllith. He is about to call out when he realizes she is stalking someone. He glances around and sees her prey. Belkas dislikes the man immediately just from his arrogant walk. He is almost certainly the cause of Arisa's unhappiness, and Belkas feels a small knot of anger grow up in his stomach.
Belkas slides out of sight of the man but tells the invisible Crowley to watch him from above and from a distance.
