“I will draw it out, we will feast on toes this day. Kill it if you can!”
Osmord growls in frustration and steps out into the open his arms raised. “Little green goblin, show yourself to dear Osmord and you may go free.” (Deception : 15)

Zyllith continues to hunker down as Vernon sprints across the field. Hoping to take advantage of the goblins distraction as it shoots at the gnome, Belkas peeks out from around the corner of the cottage and fires another arcane blast forth from his fingers. It hits the goblin right in the forehead and utterly destroys the creature in a similar explosion of light and smoke.
“Nice shot Belkas!” Arisa exclaims. “I am more worried than ever about more goblins coming through the gate- I say we check these bodies quickly of anything of use” (here she tries to hide a brief disgusted face in the Tortle’s direction) “and then make for the gatehouse to see about raising the drawbridge. Then maybe a rest?”
you can see by her pained expression that she is still not fully healed from her earlier injuries.
"Ouch, Aye. We caenne go on like this. Might be we wan' lift tha' planks up and cozy up in tha' towers fer a long spell. Get rioght propa rest in while keeping eyes out fer gobbies commin' from both sides?" Zyllith nods in agreement with Arisa as she tends to her own injuries as best she can. She'll then move along with the others, helping them search as best she can.
( Note: Zylith isn't specifically searching for anything, but she will be using the Help action to assist anyone else she can with their searches )
Of the two goblins in the pumpkin patch, one carries a pouch that contains 4 cp and 3 sp. Lying in the southwest corner of the garden is another sack of loot, which contains a tinderbox, a smoking pipe, a stuffed teddy bear, and boxed set of Three-Dragon Ante cards (worth 1 gp).
Belkas smiled at Arisa. "Thank you. I merely finished the goblins off after you very kindly wounded them."
Turning to the rest, he said, "I am not sure how much use the drawbridge will be. The goblins may swim across the stream and climb the wall if they want to enter. The keep may be easier to defend. Would you recover enough after a short rest to then investigate the keep before night falls?"
Arisa winces in pain, “I hear you Belkas, but if there is another fight at the keep I fear we won’t be ready for it. I got what I could from the short rest we had earlier- I need more time. I am sorry. I also have used up some of my magic. I still vote for the gatehouse, bridge. Let the goblins swim if they can, they will be easier to shoot if we are up high. What do you others think?”
she gathers the found items and puts in her pack- saying “we will split things of value later. Perhaps we can find the child who belongs to this bear- but I fear the worst. I have no sympathy for goblins..”
"Let's head back to the guard tower then and try to raise the drawbridge. I had not realized the extent of these injuries. I am sorry I have stayed back during combat, but truthfully, I am quite useless in close quarters. Perhaps we can put that deck of Three Dragon Ante to good use. "
When Vernon returns, Arisa will head with the group back to the gatehouse, while keeping careful watch for any more goblins. Assuming we make it back ok, we will check for approaching goblins, and then examine the mechanism to see if we can lift the drawbridge.
When Vernon searches the tower, he finds that both goblins carried sacks filled with various plunder. One is filled with stolen utensils (worthless) and three vials of perfume (worth 5 gp each), the other contains a stuffed blood hawk (worthless) and a battered copper flagon emblazoned with the grinning visage of a halfling (worth 1 gp).
Fortunately, you don't encounter any goblins on your way back. When you reach the front gate and take a few minutes to explore both watchtowers, you see that each tower contains a winch, and both mechanisms must be turned to extend or retract the chains that raise and lower the drawbridge. If both winches are operated simultaneously, it takes 1 round to raise or lower the drawbridge by 30 degrees. In other words, the fully lowered drawbridge can be fully raised in 3 rounds.
"Aye, lets crank'a up rioght" Zyllith heads to the guard tower on the other side of the draw bridge to turn the winch and help raise the draw bridge as quickly as possible. Once secured, she will set about keeping an eye into the rest of the town to ensure any other goblins don't sneak up behind.
If she’s strong enough, Arisa will do the other winch at the same time, Then, if everything is safe, she will take off her armor, roll out her bedroll, have some rations, and take an afternoon nap, on the roof of the tower.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Belkas, being strong of character but weak of arm, will watch for approaching enemies from the top of the tower with Zyllith unless needed to help turn a winch.
Having figured out the mechanics of the winch system, you raise the drawbridge and then reconvene in a single tower where you spend the rest of the afternoon. Despite the noticeable distraction that Belkas displays during his watch, nothing bothers you. From this safe vantage point, you're able to view most of the village, and you don't see any movement within its walls. In fact, the entire place is eerily silent, and it's strange to see a small town with absolutely no activity, not a single person in sight, no farming activity in the fields. The place is entirely still.
Fortunately, the sky is clear and the air is warm, so you're able to enjoy a rather conformable rest on the the roof of the watchtower as you recover and prepare yourselves for whatever may come next.
When your period of rest ends, it's about one hour before sundown.
Well Arisa sleeps, then when she's rested, she puts her armor back on, prays some quietly and says " that is much better, thank you. Should we go check out the Keep next?"

Vernon will check the watchtower for anything of value.
