“I can speak Giant. My mother insisted I learn it and Draconic, I never understood why.” Arisa says, somewhat sheepishly. She approaches the large creature, shillelagh staff In hand and ready if it acts up..
“I am Arisa, cleric of the goddess of Magic Mystra. Tell me your name, who sent you, and if you cooperate, we may let you live. We do not need any more killing this day. ”
(attempting diplomacy vs intimidation- she’s not any good at either, but I am assuming someone can help or the circumstances give her advantage.)
The giant responds by responds by blubbering incoherently, but then looks up and wails in an extremely immature and pitiful verbalization, “Me Lob... Guh want food.”
It takes her a moment to understand what he was saying, even though she speaks the language.. but then she replies “Who’s Guh, Lob? Where is Guh now? ”
“OK. Well Lob will not get hurt anymore and won’t die if Lob does what I say. Lob will not fight or hurt these people. Lob will fix wall you broke, clean up mess, and later show us to your home- if you do this, people will feed Lob and not kill you.” arisa offers jn giant, relaying her words to the others in common. “We may be able to get him to show us the way to his village. I don’t think he can tell us. But we are in no condition for that fight today. Is the battle over elsewhere ?”
Arisa will supervise Lob- making him help fix holes in the wall, pick up stones, move bodies, dig graves, etc. if he behaves she will ensure he is fed (something other than gnome).
She will see to the injured and search the bodies of the invaders as well.
Zi Liang, who by now, has come back down from her inspection of the walls, report her findings, which is that the outer wall sustained no further damage than its already crumbling state displays. The inner wall, however, shows definite signs of damage from the fight, some of which can be repaired.
Lob does agree to your demands, at least the demand to fit the wall and clean up the scattered boulders and debris, in exchange for food.He does a rather shoddy job, but considering the extent of damage to this part of the inner wall, it's about as best as can be expected. He pounds the bigger rocks back in and creates a pile of the leftover stones and puts them in a pile at the base of the wall. He does not touch any of the bodies of the guards. The whole ordeal takes about an hour.
Meanwhile, Naxene, Zi Liang and Miros relax and try to recuperate a bit after the excitement and exertion of these three fights. (They are taking a short rest. Shall I assume that you all do the same?)
As she watches Arisa supervise Lob, Zi Liang says,
"From my vantage point up on the wall, I could not see any more fighting taking place, nor could I see where any of the fleeing goblins went, although my range of view was limited, and it is not yet light out. We may know more in an hour or two."
"Also, I cannot promise that the rest of Goldenfields will agree with your deal. They'll want to execute him. It's not my place to say whether he deserves it or not, but if the Strog and his guards get their hands on him, he's as good as dead."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

“Well, Zi Liang, I think we need him alive to show us where the other giants came from, and perhaps to get us close to them. He’s not smart enough to tell us how to get there, but hopefully, he can find his way home. And meanwhile, he can work some to pay for some of his crimes, I think.” Arisa says.
"Ya know, them giants are wierdly adorable when they be cryin' like tha'. Makes it hard ta' wanna kill 'em afterwards tho'." Zyllith mused casually as she rested along with her companions.
Belkas lies in the grass looking up at the morning sky, letting the Eldritch powers in his body heal most of his wounds.

"I wonder if we should let our giant friend lead us to his home now before the other villagers come and execute it. Is everyone recovered enough to travel?"
"I must thank you all again for your help. This is a very grave situation indeed, but it would have been catastrophically worse had you not been here to help us repel these evil creatures. However, every bone in my body tells me that this was just the beginning. I've heard rumblings that other settlements have been impacted by the sudden appearance of giants, as well, — and not just hill giants but also stone, frost, fire, and cloud giants. If this is true, then the people of The North are in great danger."
"I am convinced that now is not the time for half-measures or resting on a laurels by thinking that we have ended it by thwarting this attack. As I as speaking with Arisa last night in the tavern, I told her that I have read books about the ancient conflict between dragons and giants, and she told me that you have already hd contact with a good dragon named Felogos. she urges the characters to seek out a powerful good dragon, convince it to contact other good dragons, and use them to combat the giants. Naxene is confident that the Lords’ Alliance will support this plan, given the gravity of the situation."
"If you are amenable to this, I would urge you to go seek a certain acquaintance of mine, a dragon expert in Waterdeep, named Chazlauth Yarghorn. I can provide directions to his residence in the city's north ward. My head tells me the this would be a very good course of action, especially given what you have already told me."
Lifferlas moves over to talk with you as well, specially addressing Vernon first. His canopy of leaves and branches spread out over the entire group as he speaks in low, lingering tones.
"Haroooommmm... you are a brave one indeed, especially for such a small creature. I have not seen that much courage in a loooooooong time, even in people three times as tall as youuuuuu! It warms the inside of my barrrrrrrk to know that there are still people in the world who will stand against threats to the natural balance that exists between the wilderness and the civilization of peoples."
"You, my friennnnnnd, and the reesssssst of you, display the kind of great fortitude and survival that is needed to keep the elemental forces of the world in check, as we in the Emerald Enclave aim to do."
"When you leave Goldenfields, I would also ask something of you... to seeeeeeeeek out the one who was my creator, the one who awakened me... a moon elf druid named Aerglas. He was a devout member the Emerald Enclave, aaaaannnnnd, an adventurer who slew mannnnnny giants in his day. Aerglas left Goldenfields thirty years ago on a pilgrimage to Shadowtop Cathedral near the Desssssarin Riiiiiiver, to seek out an old treant named Turlang. If you finnnnnnd Aerglas, he may be of help to you."
After an hour passes, when Lob has completed his work, you feel somewhat rejuvenated from your brief rest.
Arisa says “this is wise counsel. Yes, we have encountered other troubles with giants - the attack on nightstone, and we have befriended a dragon who warned us of developments in this- thus our group name. Waterdeep sounds like a good place to start. But what of this hill giant village? Should we try to deal with that threat to this place, if we can?”
Zi Liang responds, "Whatever course of action you decide to take, I think we need to report what we have found to Strog, the Captain of the guard. As frustrated as I have been with his lackluster duties in protecting this town, he needs to know the details of what has happened here, if he does not already. I propose we try to find him. He'll either be at the front gate, or at the Dragon's Spire watch tower, which lies Northeast of the town square, that is, if he's not sleeping off a hangover from drinking too much Goldengulp last night."
"I dunnae know if we can survive going against an entire giant village as we are. Might be good ta' scout out this place, but no' sure if'n we can do more then tha'." Zyllith commented during the conversation, "Ideally, t'would be nice ta' do it all when we can, so's more a question o' what ta' do first. Which case I'd toss me lot in wit' Waterdeep. Seem tha' path what might provide the most info on what's going on wit' tha' giant-kin."
“I think waterdeep makes sense, and also we can try to find that ranger on the way. … but let’s go report to Strog. We can bring our captive with us.. “. Arisa says.

“I can speak Giant. My mother insisted I learn it and Draconic, I never understood why.” Arisa says, somewhat sheepishly. She approaches the large creature, shillelagh staff In hand and ready if it acts up..
Cowering beneath the huge awakened tree, the blubbering hill giant barely notices Arisa's approach, and it definitely shows no signs of aggression.
She casts guidance on herself, and says In giant:
“I am Arisa, cleric of the goddess of Magic Mystra. Tell me your name, who sent you, and if you cooperate, we may let you live. We do not need any more killing this day.

2 guidance
Plus 8 diplomacy
ok 10 total :)

It takes her a moment to understand what he was saying, even though she speaks the language.. but then she replies “Who’s Guh, Lob? Where is Guh now? ”
Lob responds, calming down a little bit, while still remaining wary in his extremely injured and defeated position.
"Guh hill giant chief. She big. Real big. Bigger than me. Home in Grudd Haug."
she turns to the others and asks in common-
“this is Lob, He says he was on a raid for food for the chief, a large female named Guh. Do we know of a hill giant village called Gruud Haug?”
to Lob she says in giant- “how long walk is your village? How many giants in your village? How many on raid?”
Between the other villagers you're with, none of them have heard of a place called Grudd Haug.
Lob responds, but it's clear that he's extremely stupid, and his answers don't reveal much.
"Lob don't know how far home... walk long time. Some giants home... we get food for Guh."
“OK. Well Lob will not get hurt anymore and won’t die if Lob does what I say. Lob will not fight or hurt these people. Lob will fix wall you broke, clean up mess, and later show us to your home- if you do this, people will feed Lob and not kill you.”
