Misha was more than happy to assist, despite that finding camps and such was not her forte. Still, a request was issued, and Misha obeyed without question. That was the Code. Eventually, we found an outcropping of trees, and, like always, Misha took first watch. Not because she wanted to go first, but because she was sworn to protect.

Barkas takes the third watch, looking out for any lizard creatures or tentacle thingys known as mind floggers. He watches over everyone and continues to scan the skies for recognizable stars...

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Camp is set, and watches begin. Misha finds it hard to stay focused, but fortunately her first watch goes by without any incident. She moves to awake Kel, rousing the sleeping dragonborn. The two exchange a few words as the paladin readies for her own rest. It's then that both notice the strange "plop, plop, plop" sound that likely they'd been hearing for a few minutes was really quite close. Both turn to look from the campfire in unison out toward the darkness. "Plop, plop, plop, rumble, rumble, plop."
A towering, green-tar covered monstrosity approaches from the way they came. As it steps into view, it locks eyes with the two sentries as an odd sense works to overcome both of them.
I need CHA saves from Kel and Misha.
Confusing Gaze. When a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of the umber hulk and is able to see the umber hulk’s eyes, the umber hulk can magically force it to make a DC 15 Charisma saving throw, unless the umber hulk is incapacitated.
On a failed saving throw, the creature can’t take reactions until the start of its next turn and rolls a d8 to determine what it does during that turn. On a 1 to 4, the creature does nothing. On a 5 or 6, the creature takes no action but uses all its movement to move in a random direction. On a 7 or 8, the creature makes one melee attack against a random creature, or it does nothing if no creature is within reach.
Unless surprised, a creature can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it can’t see the umber hulk until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at the umber hulk in the meantime, it must immediately make the save.
And then initiative from everyone...but remember...you are asleep until awoken...which will occur naturally after battle begins, but if asleep, you are considered surprised that first round.

Misha was not thinking about sentineling, but something else completely, perhaps. Maybe formulating a new workout plan in her head, but like a medtech on another world, her mind was not in the game, apparently.

"Behold, my Dragonborn friend! A worthy challenge!"Misha breathed in awe to Kel, unaffected by it's gaze. "Bless the Lord General, for another opportunity to earn glory and honor is upon us! Let us slay this monstrosity in His name!"
Kel mumbles something about hot dogs as Misha rouses him for his watch. He sits up, rubbing his eyes, trying to wake up when he hears a strange sound. "I am I dreaming or is that real?" He points, still half asleep, at the monstrosity entering their camp. Misha's word confirm that Kel is not dreaming but that there is a nightmare present. Kel jumps up, scrambling for his glaive.
Misha's mouth began to water. You're not sure if it's the mention of chili, or the ensuing fight, but Barkas's battle readiness was admired and appreciated.
Barkas steps back to 40 feet away from the umber hulk. He raises his staff and shouts “Max, Luke, attack!!” He casts conjure animals and 2 dire wolf behind the umber to attack him and flank him.

Ada had fallen completely asleep and was having a truly amazing dream.... she was kissing Valentino by a crystal blue.... WAIT, WHAT, is it even Monday?!? What the heck is going on, where am I... she slowly rouses hearing all kinds of plopping noises and yelling from Misha and Kel and now two dire wolves... still confused, she desperately tries to focus her eyes on what's actually happening. "This is truly a Manic Monday!" she kind of slurs out. She finally manages to focus of the terrifying mandible tar-baby and casts a Chaos Bolt in it's direction
The noise of fighting wakes Daetris from what had been the deepest sort of sleep she usually can grab on the road. Her hands go for her bow instinctively, and she rolls up onto her knees to assess the situation. And promptly lets out a torrent of swears as she tries to loose two arrows towards this creature.
