Brandon curses to himself as Mila brings breathless news of the bandits at Pelc’s. He was so concerned about the bandits returning to the cave and interrupting their search that he did not think about the danger they could pose to the village.
Sword still in its sheath, for now, he breaks out in a run and follows Kotar and Durnham to Pelc’s, alert for any threats he could find there.
Somewhere in the trees to his side, he hears a raven cry. It doesn't seem possible, but it almost sounds reproachful. “Oh, shut up”he mutters as he hurries to catch up with the group.
Qidira, hearing the news and instantly recognizing trouble, immediately starts running. Keeping pace with Durnham and glancing over at him silently cursing the height of the snow.
As they rush over to Pelc's to help Ressys remarks "Well, the note we found did say the five gang members not accounted for were headed to Pelc's to check for a cure. We inadvertently sent Elro there. We will help as we can."
He does his best to direct his companions to Pelc's letting the warriors take the lead and letting them know where to go.
You rush to Pelc’s, overtaking Mila as she starts to lag on her tired legs – Durnham knows the way and is able to guide you all to the elf’s shop at the edge of town.
The dark cabin before you has a sign over its door which reads, “Pelc’s Curiosities,” with the image of a curving dragon used to make the letter P. Though the shop appears closed, the front door is slightly ajar. You hear a groan from inside the shop, it sounds like a male adult in pain.
You pause a moment before Mila appears about fifty feet behind you, yelling “Elro’s in there! Help him!”
Inside you find the ageing elf propped up against the front counter, eyes open but droopy. He is surrounded by the bodies of three elves and two dwarves in gear similar to the bandits from Croaker Cave and has three crossbow bolts protruding from his body.
Durnham staggers into the room gasping for air. His eyes stick to Elro as he takes in the crossbow bolts... and the blood. “We didn’t know,”he shakes his head “We didn’t know.” He bends over catching his breath and hangs his head in shame. “I should have known.”
After a few moments when he catches his breath he takes in the whole scene. There were 5 of them... and only one Elro. It was truly impressive... but what was the cost of this victory? Durnham didn’t know medicine, he had no idea how bad Elro’s wounds were, but suspected the man was dying. “Elro... how bad is it?”He winces at his own awkward words.
“Winterwalker... can you do anything? Is he... will he...” he can’t bring himself to say the words as he turns towards the Firbolg.
Contrary to Kotar's expectations no battle waited for the group when they arrived at Pelc’s store. Instead they found a tired Elro, holding himself against the counter. At his foot the five corpses that could only belong to the five men Hulgi had send to the village in search for a cure to her affliction. Early graves, thought the goliath looking at them. He could not help but to admire the strength of the Glassblade.
It was Durnham’s voice that made he realize the obvious. Aldataur was wounded and not lightly. The wizard asked the druid if he could do something and the fighter remembered Ressys’s warn in the cave - the firbolg had no more healing spells at his disposal.
“Durnham!”He calls sheathing his blade. “Is there anywhere in the village that sells a healing potion?”As the words left his lips he turned to the elven woman, as if extending the question to her. “That or another healer. Both even, if possible. Fast!”
Normally he would not be so demanding, least of all with a guard, but there was no time to measure words and try niceties. He needed both elf and dwarf to act on their knowledge of Paleblank.
“And you.” Kotar turns to Elro while removing the shield from his left arm. “Lean on me, we need to get you somewhere to lay down. In the meantime, keep your eyes open and mouth closed. You need the energy.” He said approaching Aldataur and offering his arm.

Qidira scrambles through the door and ponders Pelc's Curiousities? Could that include healing? She starts digging through the contents of the Bandits belongings quickly to see if anything remotely resembling a healing potion could be found on them, then rushes to any area of the shop that looks like it has bottles of any sort or a case. Likely near the counter as healing is valuable in her mind. Extremely careful not to touch anything remotely blue. "Where's Pelc? They're ill, but maybe they have something here for healing, unless they tried it on themselves already. We used to have to cauterize bad injuries on the streets as we didn't have healers, I hope you don't need to, but if the bleeding is bad?"

“No, magical potions aren’t normally sold in this village. It’s really just a small fishing village. Most people go to Uthodurn for magical supplies. But, if there were something like that to be sold, it would be here in Pelc’s! Quick look around, maybe one of the bandits had one?”
Durnham looks around the room as well and searches for any kind of healing potions. He also searches through the bandit’s bodies for anything that would heal Elro.

Brandon looks at the carnage around the shop. Five against one he thinks, and he quickly has a newfound respect for the old ranger. While Kotar tends to Elro and Durnham and Qidira search the shop and bandits for any healing potions or other supplies, Brandon looks around the shop, looking for any additional threats and trying to find any sign of Pelc.
Perception: 20
“Someone should use the healer’s kit to stabilize him while they search for a potion or other aid. Who was carrying them?” Brandon suggests, then calls out for Pelc. “Pelc, are you here? It is safe to come out now. Elro is in need of medical supplies, do you have any?”
Ressys moves to help support Elro. "I'm sorry, we ran into trouble at Croaker Cave and any power I had to heal was used. It will be too exhausting to do more today. How wounded do you think you are?"
Ressys looks him over trying to determine the extent of Elro's injuries and stabilize him.
Medicine check 6
He then looks to Mila who has hopefully caught up.
"I know you are tired, but you need to get any priest or healer the village may have."
Elro manages a weak smile at the inquiries as to his health: “How bad? As opposed to good? I could do with a healer, truth be told”he coughs at the effort and sprays flecks of blood down his front.
Looking up at Qidira, a sad look falls upon Elro’s face as he says “Pelc? She’s...in her room”
As Kotar and Ressys start to handle him and lay him down, beseeching him to be quiet, Elro tries to answer the question about potions but Durnham replies for him, confirming that no shops dedicated to potions will be found in Palebank.
The party start to search the shop and the dead bandits. Durnham is the first to uncover something of value – a single healing potion in the belt pouch of a dead dwarf. He also finds a total of 20 gold pieces and 30 silver pieces in the pockets and pouches of the dead bandits.
Ressys sets about trying to stabilise Elro’s wounds using the healer’s kit. Applying dressings to the wounds while assessing if the bolts are safe to remove, he deduces that it is better to leave them in place for now. He administers a small pouch of herbs from the kit and Elro immediately starts to regain some colour. Although sedated slightly, he seems much less pained (OOC: I didn’t get a roll come through from Ressys so I rolled myself and got a natural 20).
Mila stands watching, mouth open in a combination of shock and horror, but the concern starts to ebb slightly as she sees her mentor begin to recover before her eyes.
Brandon spots an open door in the north east corner of the shop and looks inside. What appears to be an ice statue of an elf is bundled beneath the blankets of a bed along the east wall of the room. A small table loaded with dirty teacups and a kettle stands next to the bed.
Durnham gives Ressys the healing potion he found. “I’m not sure he still needs it but here. You did a good job with those herbs.” He isn’t sure what to do with the coins he found. They should go to Elro since he was the one attacked and had to defend himself but it seemed like the wrong time to talk about it. He’s just relieved that he seems to be doing better.
”What happened here?” He looks around and the bodies and the wreckage in the room.
Brandon looks on in relief as Ressys is able to provide some aid to Elro and Durnhim quickly finds a healing potion on one of the bandits. His expression and mood darkens when he notices the room to the north east.
Pushing open the door, he shares the bad news with his companions “I found Pelc, but we are of no help to them now. They are frozen solid, and succumbed to the Frigid Woe.”
He turns back to the others “We should ensure Elro is stable and then go seek out this Merchant. The quicker we secure the second vial, the better.”
“Tulgi is the next person on the trail of the illness. If Pelc has died of it... she will be next.. and then Hulil. though...” and he looks around the room at the bodies and Elro’s state “I find myself less and less concerned for that criminal’s welfare.”
“Is there anything in Pelc’s room that helps us know where my Uncle went in Eiselcross. You’re right in that tracking down the vial is the next priority, but if we are to find a cure and save anyone we need more information!” He grits his teeth in frustration. He’s always two steps behind, trying to find information. They were gaining on the trail, but there must be some spell or some way to get the information faster and to save time. If only he were more skilled.
Qidira speaks up, "So Pelc is definitely beyond hope then? We have the other potion, perhaps someone in the village has some skill to make an antidote? We should find the other vial, but maybe they could work with this one?" Then looks to Mila, "Do you know if anyone might be able to help if they had what caused the illness?" She looks around the shop then to Mila "Does Pelc have any family close by? They should be alerted right away so that noone else loots this place." Knowing in a different time, she'd have been tempted by the items here.
A sense of frustration took hold of him when Durnham answered his question about a place that could sell healing potions in Paleblank. They would have no time to reach Uthordun, and that was assuming Elro could survive the travel. Their best bets would have been Ressys’ herbs and the chance that the priest who did Urgon’s funeral had some curative spell of his own, were it not for the wizard thinking on searching the bandits and finding the medicine they needed.
The dwarf handed the vial to the firbolg while the human brought news of his search. Brandon had found Pelc, but the elf was already consumed by the aeorian plague. All because of a few cracks in a flask, he thought leaving Elro to the druid’s care and retrieving his shield.
“Frigid Woe is the name of this illness. Artificial, made in Aeor.”He started looking at the Glassblades. “We found that from the remaining Uttolot’s crew.”There was no longer doubt in his mind about what to do with the information they had. “There were ten in the cave. We took three down and five are here. Of the remaining two the leader, Hulil, is sick but I can’t tell to what extent that will affect her fighting abilities. You can find her and a… Apprentice of hers? Something like that, after Old Croaker’s pool but not for long since she intends to move back to Shadycreeck Run or, maybe, the village. And Tulgi’s part of the band.”
After assessing and treating Elro's wounds he is able to stabilize him. Durnham then hands him a healing potion. "This will work. I can now remove the bolts while you give him the potion. This should keep him alive while we find more or allow natural healing to occur."
Directing Durnham to give Elro the potion Ressys will then remove the bolts and continue to stabilize the elf.
"You're tough, I'll give you that Elro." After seeing to his comfort he continues.
"As the others have said, the little band of thieves seems to have been dealt with. Tulgi is nearly dead, Hulil as well They are both sick. The remainder of the band, except one other, Raergrin, is dead now. Raergrin seemed to be Hulil's apprentice as Kotar said, and is caring for Hulil but she sounded as if they intended to leave for Shadycreek Run."
Ressys then fills Elro in on what he learned of the illness. "Firgid Woe is what it is called. It is contracted by having contact with spores from 2 small vials Urgon brought back from Eiselcross. We recovered one from Hulil but the other was sold to a merchant staying at the Jolly Dwarf. Frigid Woe is a disease, manufactured not natural. You can only catch it by having contact with the spores and the only cure is an antidote, and antidote we do not have."
"Are you able to stand and move? We need to get to the Jolly Dwarf and find this merchant, Irven Liel is his name. He has the other vial of spores. He does not know the danger he is in."
Qidira considers something, then looks over the bandits, their belongings and weapons again, pulling them out of their sheathes inspecting closely as well as their bolts for their Crossbows. Then, a frightening thing occurs to her and she checks her own newly obtained bolts. "Ressys, were you able to detect this Frigid Woe? I wonder if you can also detect it if used as a poison? Remember how Hulil had used it on the chest. It occurs to me that the bandits may have used it on their weapons as well?"
Durnham’s eyes widen as he looks at Qidira and takes in her suggestion. “I didn’t even think of that... if Hulil did that... I’ll kill the ***** myself, frigid woe or no.” He then takes a close look at the bolt tips and weapons of the bandits. 18 Inspection
