Two players in this campaign recently dropped due to IRL commitments. I am seeking another two players to round out the campaign's roster as we enter the second - of many - chapters! Check out the gameplay thread here if it seems to be something you're interested in.
If you previously applied and are looking to be considered (there are some really good applications that hurt to pass up!), drop a message here to confirm interest, or feel free to PM me again if you applied through private messages. Alternatively, if you'd like to make a new character and reapply, you're more than free to do so.
Check out the first post for details on the realm and character creation. I'm planning on keeping applications open for around a week. The current party is a Human Bard, Halfling Fighter, Elf Wizard, and Gnome Wizard, though I tend to consider a unique, well-done backstory far before party composition when selecting players.
Hello. I already applied for this campaign and would be interested in re-applying.
The original application:
Name - Nico Case
Class- Monk
Background- .
Nico was born into a proud warrior clan from the Torken tribe. Like all of their fellow tribesmen, they were warriors, solving matters with might over magic, diplomacy, or cunning but unlike the others, Nico's clan eschewed clubs and most other weapons, instead choosing to hone their bodies until they could be used as weapons. Nico was no different. From the time he could walk, he went through daily training to strengthen his body and discipline his mind until he was capable of striking down an opponent with nothing more than his fists. But as hard as Nico trained, he could never surpass his younger sister.
She struck harder than him, proved more elusive than him, and as the two of them grew up and their father began to become an old man, he declared that upon his death, Nico's sister would become head of the clan, despite Nico being the eldest child, which according to tradition would make him the next in line. Outwardly, Nico was composed and congratulated his sister, congratulating his sister and honoring the decision that his father had made. Inwardly, Nico was devastated, feeling that he had failed as a firstborn child, having been judged unworthy to lead his clan after his father's death.
He vowed that he would change his father's mind somehow, either by proving his prowess in battle against another tribe or the invading Imperium or through some other heroic act that would prove that he was able to do his duty as the firstborn and lead his clan.
PBP Experience - I have three years of PbP experience and I've played in more campaigns than I can count. I have also been working as a DM for the last year and a half.

Xenophon: Topaz Dragonborn Fighter (ixi's Dragon of Icespire Peak)
I submitted a character, Silio Diafol, and would like to play him with a name change.
Duine Liath
Rogue (Assassin/Alchemist)
Point Buy 13 16 11 11 10 16 Human (Racial Bonus added)
Never able to cede when bested, unable to give in with anything remotely akin to 'gracefully acknowledging the victor', Duine Liath was very, very poor loser (a 'flaw' in his makeup some said). The particular case that ended with him in these straits involved a woman in the tribe that Silio Diafol considered 'his', who was swept off her feet by his main rival. A little poison in the rivals soup and, voila, problem solved; except it wasn't. Suspicion fell, quite naturally, on Silio Diafol, especially when the woman in question pointed a finger at him, thus making it a healthy move to slip away before things got any hotter than they already were. And so, after a long a perilous journey, Silio Diafol found himself stooping to the utter depths of 'helping' pumpkin farmers.
Well, he would sigh silently to himself, 'The current state of affairs, viz-a-vie the Imperium and the coming war-- everybody knew it was coming, just not when, nor where it would start or who would start it-- would be rife with opportunities for one with his . . . talents. In the mean time, he had to make a living. One of his more socially acceptable talents was that of an alchemist, folks liked to but his 'specials': usually Tangler Grenades and, when he felt they were deserving enough, Explosive Seeds, though he didn't offer them very often as they were tedious to make.
My thought is to play Duine Liath in somewhat the vein of the 'Engineers' (combat alchemists) in Stephan Erikson's books of the Malazan Empire, but with an attitude bent by his poor loser 'skills'. :) He is somewhat chaotic in nature but, when the need arises, usually motivated by self-interest, he is quite capable of disciplining his egotistical nature and working with others to further a particular goal. As long, of course, as he sees that goal as . . . beneficial.
I have been playing DnD on Beyond for about two-and-a-half years; I started playing D&D sometime in the distant past, advanced to AD&D [all table top], then, whilst isolated in the boonies of the Far North, discovered play-by-email. I like playing devious characters, ones with murky motives, bent morals, a liking for treasure and a taste for magic 'stuff' -- weapons, rings, objects that can further a character's, umm, goals. I am able to post daily, with very rare exceptions, often two or three times, depending on the flow of the game.

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
Sounds like a great adventure! Here is my character idea below. Happy to work with you and the group to make him fit the story.
Name: Panmir Olothyra
Class: Paladin, Oath of Redemption
Background:
Panmir is the oldest of two children to a human mother and an elven father. The pair were inseparable growing up. They had a happy childhood in the Imperium and like many children they, dreamed of adventure and spreading the glory of their homeland. Panmir, coming of age first, enlisted in the army as soon as he could. Exceling in the martial aspects of his training he rose through the ranks quickly. Four short years later his brother, Gamar, joined the army just as they always dreamed.
Panmir using his charm and influence had his brother assigned to his unit just before the discovery of The Wilderness. As news of this new land broke the brothers were among the first to board the ship set for glory and conquest. The first few years were bliss, they fought and celebrated just as they had as children. Sure the battles were difficult and people died but the Olothyra brothers always prevailed, until they didn't.
It was a stormy night in The Wilderness the division was on patrol knowing there was a Torken force in the area. Everyone was on edge. As they advanced through the flooded forest the enemy got the jump on them. The battle was fierce as this Torken force was beyond anything they had encountered before. Panmir and Gamar fought back to back but they were divided by the Torken Captain. Between lightening strikes Panmir saw an opportunity to strike and swung his morning star at his foe. And that's when his world changed. His foot slipped just a bit, the Torken moved just enough and his strike went wide as his weapon struck the side of his brothers head with a sickening crunch. His brother fell and so did Panmir lost in the despair of what he had done. He doesn't know why he survived that night, perhaps the Torken took pity on him or perhaps they saw him as already defeated as he laid on top of his brother sobbing as his division was decimated around him.
It was in this moment Panmir swore an oath to never lift his weapon without cause. He would give his life to pursue peace and extinguish the flames of war. His conviction grew as he deserted from the military and traveled as an emissary of peace to unite the tribes and the Imperium.
PbP Experience: Reasonably new to PbP but involved in a few games and having a blast. I can post daily without trouble. I'd love to be involved in a more active and long term campaign.

DM -- The Candlekeep Mysteries 1 & 2Discord PCs -- Christian Dembele Forum PCs -- Edryd Breckon, Fizzlebit Forton Thornberry the Fourth
Background- Mia grew up across the ocean in the Imperium. The daughter of a long line of knights who defended the nation, Mia was taught from an early age the way of the sword. Hard working and skilled, she could have been the jewel of the family. However, her older brother Elias was a prodigy. He got all of the attention and praise. As they both came of age, he was given the family sword while Mia was sent off to join the expedition abroad. Upon arriving in the Wilderness, Mia slipped away from her family guard. Determined to not just be left here away from her family, Mia decided that the best way to earn her place next to her golden brother was to earn herself such a name that no one could deny her. Hurrying down from the ship, she made her way down into the city, looking for adventure and a chance to prove herself.
Personality - Mia is a bit reckless trying to make a name for herself. She is rather naïve having never really left her home until now. She knows very little of this strange new continent, only the little bit that she read on the boat over and that she was told by her family's guard.
PBP Experience - I'm currently running 2 campaigns but have yet to have one I'm a player in go for long so I am hoping to join a campaign that will stick around a bit.
Greetings ! In case you are still looking for people or will in the future, I just thought of a character and will apply it there. The backstory and personnality are still a bit elusive as of yet, as I like to build them as games go. I have yet to create the sheet, I want to see whether I'm accepted or not :)
Name - Malon
Race - Kalashtar
Class- Ranger (Fey Wanderer)
Background- Born in a small fishing village with his father and two older siblings, brother and sister, Malon always felt there was something odd about him. It could be from other people looked at him. It could be from the fact people were often retelling their dreams, and that Malon never experienced anything of the sort while he was sleeping. It could be from the strange events that sometimes occured around him.
Or it could be because he was able communicate directly into people's minds, spontaneously.
After pressing questions to the villagers, he discovered that his mother (or the one he thought his mother to be) had died too soon before his own birth. He could sense embarassement from his father as he was trying to discover the truth behind all this, but he knew for sure that he was indeed of the same blood. His siblings, however ... were only half-siblings.
All things considered, Malon had managed to live peacefully with the rest of the village, helping fishing and sometimes playing with his siblings. But one day, when a bad season lasted too long and the fishes had become rare, the villagers had to find a responsible - a scapegoat. Despite all the protest of his family as to the benevolent nature of Malon, the villagers decided that he was the one guilty for their misfortune. Showing mercy in not hanging or burning him, they exiled him from the village. His family had no mean to follow him, so his father gave him most of their small belongings so he could survive, and his sister swore to find him again one day.
Inexperienced with the world, away from the sea, he met starvation and went close to dying in the middle of a forest. Feys found him and tried to play tricks on them, but ended up being impressed at how well he resisted to their games, and showed him the way to another Human leaving nearby. It was a gruff man of the wild who showed hospitality to him. Sympathetic after hearing his story, he offered to teach him some techniques to survive in the wild, and some basic fighting skills.
After a few months, Malon felt the desire to wander off and said good-bye to his benefactor. He found within himself the need to find who his mother really was, and maybe proving his innocence to the village one day, but bereft of any lead, he just chose to wander. Travelling alone, however, could prove dangerous, and he came to the conclusion his best bet to explore the world in search of answers was to find a group of abled people and to offer them his newfound skills.
After all, adventurers were known to easily welcome even the oddest of people.
PBP Experience - I got back into D&D only a few months ago, and have had little possibility for games with voice, hence playing of my games text-based since. I am currently part of a text-based campaign and a PBP game on Role Gate, plus I applied to a few more text-based campaigns which have yet to unfold. It may be worth mentioning that a couple of years ago I used to be pretty active on a RP forum.
Hello, I'm new to this and have been recommended to apply to this campaign specifically and I'm very interested! I see some very interesting and exciting applications already and so if I don't make the cut this time I hope to be considered again if applications re open.
Name; Colthakk Pruul.
Race; Dragonborn
Class; Barbarian
Background; Colthakk was part of a small Frako village far east which was overrun and used as an outpost by stormers, during the invasion most of the adults of the village were slaughtered and some were able to flee.
Colthakk being in his mid-late teens at this point, and seeing the slaughter of the members of his close knit community, flew into his first ever rage. When he then regained consciousness after forgetting most of the fighting, he found himself imprisoned with a handful of the younglings from the village and some adults who were incapable of fighting, Colthakk and the other prisoners were then put to work labouring and providing for the now settling remnants of the stormers.
Colthakk was told that his willingness to fight and his strength had potential and the stormers went about training him, Colthakk at first resisted these cruel oppressors but when they threatened the surviving younglings from his village he knew he had no choice, and with no resistant back up he accepted the training to become a stormer himself or at least useful to them.
Months later Colthakk had learnt a lot about fighting, but his resistance to become callous or violent toward the prisoners had kept him at the bottom of the stormers pecking order, Colthakk would still regularly intervene if the stormers were being particularly violent, most of the time taking beatings and punishments on behalf of the prisoners and unknown to Colthakk becoming a hero in their eyes. This quickly made the leader of this particular Stormer group very unhappy and Colthakk, along with all the other Frako, were brought to them and the Stormer seniors, and given a choice.
The leader of the Stormers essentially laid out the terms of the contract that they had undertaken, as stormers are mercenaries after all. Colthakk learned that the village was to be completely wiped out and used as an outpost for trading resources from the area exporting out north west to the imperium forces, the Stormer Leader made out that the surviving Frako prisoners were still alive only at the behest of the Leader themselves as a mercy and that their lives were worth nothing at all. Colthakk was then told that his ongoing resistance in the face of this 'mercy' was an insult, and Colthakk should either prove himself or be punished. Colthakk was handed the Great Axe of the leader and told to cut down one Frako prisoner for an audience of Stormers or the cost would be Colthakk's life along with every other Frako prisoner in the village.
Not knowing what to do Colthakk froze and a hush fell awaiting his decision, Colthakk looked toward his Frako companions and then regarded the axe in his grasp, but before he could make his choice a loud commotion disturbed the scene. Frako that had fled in the initial invasion were back! having spent months finding and recruiting able-bodied fighters from neighbouring communities this resistance force was carving its way through the Stormer occupied village, Colthakk took this chance to try cutting down the Stormer leader and also (to his surprise) unleashed a gout of breath flames upon the Stormer seniors, a large fight ensued and eventually the Stormers were all slain, all apart from the leader who, whilst caught off guard and unarmed, fled.
Colthakk stayed in his village to help rebuild and protect the survivors. He was praised as a survivor of oppression and a beacon of hope to the other prisoners during that time but he did not revel in it, he was and remains haunted by his inaction of the choice he failed to make. He shudders at the situation he was put under and after the village regained some semblance of normalcy, Colthakk resolved to seek out other innocents the help out, others that may have been oppressed or put in immoral decisions for which there would only ever be loss, because deep down he doesn't know if he would kill innocents to save others and he stresses the thought of what would have happened without help, and he also seeks out the Stormer leader who placed him in such a predicament, if not for the safety of his village, then for revenge.
PBP experience; I am completely new to pbp as a way to play DnD but I am not new to DnD itself, I've also played a wide array of other ttrpg's aswell as made my own (not a brag it wasnt very good) I have previously dabbled in dm'ing but this only served to tell me that i'm more comfortable and interested in playing.
thank you for your time! hope you enjoyed reading.

For those of you accepted - welcome! I will be sending a PM out shortly. And for those of you who weren't - I hope to see you around the forums!
