Project Point: Team Longsword

Inspiration Strength Roll: 4

The vines lash around literally all of you, and as you look around for the source, you see the elves from the tavern stepping out of an alley. Now however, they are armed for battle--Azael wears full plate armor, Shaehas has a curved sickle held in one hand, Ilyr's spellbook is open for use, and Liraes is wearing a silver skull mask and wielding a rune-carved glaive. Azael spares a brief glance at all of you. "Stay out of this, please," he says simply as he strides towards Vorik, blade out.

Serandis:

Initiative Order: Serandis 22, Citron 21, Ilyr 17, Azael 17, Petra 15, Liraes 12, Shaehas 8, Adaliza 4, Vorik 4

Serandis and Citron are up.

Everyone is restrained, and can use their action on their turn to escape the vines by making a DC 16 Strength check.

Serandis smiles and says, "Okay," 

A Fog Cloud appears between Vorik and Liraes. She wasn't going to get into this battle, but if this mummy had any advice to help them then she had to make sure this creature lived. And hopefully, get Liraes to back off. She rolls into her bindings and tries to make herself look as small as she can. She may be bound, but she wasn't useless.

She uses her Cunning Action to Hide.

Citron wriggles around helplessley

Fog fills the air and literally nobody can see.

You hear Elvish curses floating through the mist, and the humming of arcane magic (Ilyr is Readying an action). The thump of armored boots sounds through the fog, and you hear the whistle of a blade through the air from the general direction of where Vorik was last standing.

Azael's attacks:

As a Bonus Action Petra activates Channel Divinity: Peerless Athlete so that she can have advantage on these escape checks.

You hear a sequence of arcane words from where Liraes and Shahas were standing, and the Liraes's footsteps sound through the mist, running towards where Vorik last was.

You don't know what Shaehas is doing, evidently it's not loud, whatever it is.

Adaliza is up.

Adaliza did not even try to free herself, instead, she concentrated on that area where everyone could hear the sound of fighting:

Calm Emotions (make a target indifferent about creatures of your choice that it is hostile toward - in our case Vorik)

Oh boy, that'll hit everybody, so I'm gonna need a Cha ST from the party (or at least those of you feeling hostile towards Vorik) too.

Vorik chooses to walk backwards out of the fog, quietly (we're gonna try Stealthing), not provoking AOOs because they can't see him.

Hearing the noises of the attack made Sera tighten up, her stomach in knots thinking maybe she wasn't casting the spell correctly. Pasha promised her the ability to tap into the arcane, but not that she would be any good at it. She wrestles around in the fog cloud, hoping to break free so she can help her friends. 

Strength Save: 1

Try as she might, she could not break free from the binding that holds her in place. She then tries to make herself small as she uses her Cunning Action to hide. 

Stealth: 15

A moment of silence sounds through the mist, and then Azael's voice rings through it again. "Retreat." Footsteps crunch again as the paladin makes his (noisy as hell, boy is in plate armor with a bad Dex) way out of the mist and away, and the sound of Ilyr's readied arcane energy falls silent.

Petra is up.

Petra will try to see where Vorik went so that she can follow him.

And she will move toward him in an effort to protect him.

Petra: You make it out of the fog in the direction Vorik was headed and find yourself near the side of the street. The mummy is standing around the corner in an alley, half-hidden by the wall he's pressed against as he watches the fog.

You hear a few more footsteps from Liraes's direction, and then a whispered magical word. And then all is quiet, silence closing in on you in the fog.

Out of initiative.

Adaliza turned her horse and moved towards the direction of Vorik's escape, sending a worried Message "Are you ok?! The monsters are gone but they can return." Once she found Petra and Vorik, she sigh with relief. "You should not stay on the open. The criminals can return. Is there a more... defensible place around where we can talk? It looks like your worries were well justified. Any help I can offer is yours."

Vorik steps back around the corner. "We can speak at the temple," he agrees.

Adaliza dismounted and walked with Vorik to the temple.

(Horse war walked there too, of course)

The five of you make your ways to the temple, which is mostly empty at this time of day, most people doing day things like tending the fields or running their businesses. "Thank you for your assistance back there," Vorik says gravely as he closes the door behind all of you.

Vorik gives you all a nod and then heads to the central chamber of the temple to do some praying on his own.

Essentially as soon as he leaves, you all see a mouse staring at you through the window. It taps the glass with a small claw.

Talking mouse could mean a druid, meaning quite likely one of the murderous elves. Adaliza went outside to talk to the creature rather than allowing it into the temple.
