Having also noticed the stranger, but hoping to get to more advantageous ground first, Rex curses his luck as Serandis approaches the stranger, and even more so seeing that emerald glint. He tries to call out, but he's too late- violence was imminent.

Serandis walks forward as she pulls out her rapier, she stabs at the spy before stepping back twenty (20) feet from the attacker, into the shadows of the street and trying to stealth away from them. 

Rapier: 24 if it hits 9 (If it crits also 8 ) plus Sneak Attack damage 1 (If it crits also 3 )

"I tried it the peaceful way..." WIth that, Rex gets down on one knee and prepares his crossbow, loading an arcane guiding bolt from a pouch to his side and firing it off at the spy, as he murmurs magical incantations. As he strikes the elf, a burst of radiant light engulfs them, some of which lingers even after the initial effect has worn off.
