(OOC: Sorry, wasn't really on yesterday. Let me get you shifted)
Derin heads off to let his superiors know about the situation.
With Drego looking around, the group is able to identify a series of runes along the inside of the doorway once it's open, which will trigger as soon as anyone goes through it.
'One of you magic types want to take a peek here? Looks like some kind of protective runes sealing the way forward.' The ranger looks back at the group for some Help in finding a way to disarm or trigger the runes without getting anyone hurt. Seeing Stitches light facsimile dancing along, the ranger has a flash of insight 'Hey little buddy, what if you tried to trigger these with that ghostly hand thing you can do? Maybe let us back up and you could tickle the Runes a bit? or walk over them with your magic hand and see if they'll pop?'
Case backs away after the ruins are identified. He watches as Stitch attempts to set off the ruins with his magic. If that fails, then Case says, "Let us send my creature. I can repair it if it gets damaged." He makes a "tch" sound and motions with his head. The steel defender looks up at him with an "et tu brute?" sort of look, though...its tough to tell expressions on the metal creature...and then trots casually in through the doorway.

"I could..." Robin begins as Stitch moves to try to activate the runes, but, from the back of the group, she is too-late to do much but wait and see if Stich has any affect. "try to detect magic." She finishes, though well after it is of any use.
Jax shoves a hammer in his bedroll and chucks it down the hall, aiming for it to roll on the hallway floor past the runes to the door ahead of Case's friend.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Well then XD
Neither the bedroll nor the spell seem to do anything, but as the steel defender trots through the door into the antechamber, a spiked pit opens up in the floor and attempts to swallow it!
I need a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, or the steel defender is going down that pit, taking 3 bludgeoning damage, and if they fail that save, another DC 20 Dexterity save to avoid the spikes, taking 7 piercing and 6 poison damage on a fail.
(FINE! I will never edit another post with a roll again!)
(First save was a 9, fail. 2nd is a 16, a fail.)
There's a loud metal "clang" as the metallic dog falls and slams onto some spikes. There's a brief scrabbling sound as it gets back to its feet and glances up out of the pit with a "why me" sort of expression. Or perhaps it's a blank expression. It's hard to tell. (immune to poison. 15 damage taken. 5 hps remain).

"I can most certainly jump over this tiny hole,"Jax says. "I can do so with a rope and that may help the rest of you." He has to be reminded to not carry over all of the rope, and just bring one end. He's happy to do so once everyone is ready. (Jax has a running long jump of 18 feet.)

"...I'm afraid I'll need to be carried... I'm not much of a jumper," Pieste Mor says while watching the preparations and such. (Also, did the runes give any indication of being set off or anything? Does the pit trap seem magical or just mechanical? Perception? 6 or lemme know if you want some other roll...) "...and do be careful there could be more traps yet to come..."
Case looks at the small dragon with wide shocked eyes. He splutters for a moment as if trying to figure out how to explain something obvious. But then he seems to realize something and calms himself. With partly lidded eyes and a monotone voice he says, "Ah. You jest. Humorous."
Case sends his metallic dog across first and it leaps across lithely. Case follows, jumping across after the dog. Case' flying companion flaps awkwardly over and lands on Case' shoulder on the far side.

PM: The runes did flare when the dog went through, but as close as PM can tell, the only magical thing here is the trigger--once the pit is activated, it's all just gravity and hinges.
'I don't trust anyone here - that includes Derek and his superiors''the ranger chimes in as he hands Stitch over to Case to ride on their armored shoulders. He pulls out his weapons and steps forward again to continue to scout and check the way forward, keeping 10 feet ahead of the rest of the group and trying to stay quiet.

Stitch does attempt to do as Drego has asked. Both with dancing lights and mage hand in an attempt to activate the runes protecting the entrance.

The doggy is in fact currently stuck in the pit and it will require a DC 20 Athletics check to pull it out (you can be Helped).

Case heaves his metal dog out of the pit and glances around. Can they step around its edges or do they need to jump over the pit now to go further?
While they examine their options, gears and bits inside the metal dog pop and clank and it seems to repair some of the damage to itself.
12 hps regained from "Repair" action.

You'll need to jump it. The pit is ten feet across.
