"The reports talk about mostly goblinoids and orcs, but there have also been sightings of Gnolls, Lizardmen, and even ogres. What is true and what is not...well that is what we need to know. Numbers are also wildly speculated...from a few dozen to hundreds. As to where you can sign up, well right here! Just let me get the charter out and set up my ink and pen."
The envoy sits at one of the rickety tables and produces a vellum sheet of paper with writing on it and a large wax seal at the bottom.

As far as Shaede can tell the envoy is being truthful.
"That's it, come forward and sign your name or make your mark. Once we have everyone interested signed up I will release you to make the journey to the keep. Once there, speak with the Castillion and see what she has to say about the situation. Best of luck and we look forward to your success and return!"
She watches excitedly as names are added to the list underneath her own name. And then her eyes widened and she grew nervous as she realized she's never been in charge of potentially healing this many people before.
As the final adventurers sign the contract, the envoy sands the signatures, brushes it off and rolls it up.
"A copy will be awaiting you at the eastern gate when you are ready to depart. We expect you to be on the road no later than 2 days hence. Purchase what you need and get to the Keep. Best of luck."
The envoy then leaves and you are free to do whatever you wish.
[ooc]Ok, we can handwave the next few days and pickup at the gate leaving, or if you want we can role play you meeting etc. Up to you[/ooc]
[I'm for the group at least doing some basic introductions, as none of our characters know anything about each other. At the very least, we should all mention what race and class we're playing, so it doesn't get confusing. I'll even go first.]
Name's Garvin o' Unterwood. You can just call me Gar, though. Halfling, as you've probably seen. I'm a bard by trade, work for whoever'll pay me to play an' talk. The money in this contract seemed pretty good, and, in my opinion, no one ever went wrong with a little bit a' song. So I'm in for the duration, as long as you'll have me. What about you folks? Who might you be, and what's your place in this little group?
Shaede considers this varied band of adventurers that he has now committed to joining. Yes, the coin will be good, but the danger is present. It is time to take stock of what is needed and what he can accomplish in his short time here in Hochoch. The wood elf addresses Garvin from beneath his hooded cloak:
My name is Shaede and I have traveled far with still far to go. I have wound up here in this tavern at a fortuitous time. I am running low on coin to continue my journey, so what's a few days work? I am pleased to meet you, bard. Myself, I am good with a bow, and even better at staying unseen.
"I'm Fenyore, I'm a cleric of Tamora. And I have a lot of experience healing....usually it's like a sprained ankle or something but I'm sure I'll do fine!" She said nervously.
His response to that would be to pat you on the...well I guess it wouldn't be your shoulder, more likely your elbow, in what is probably intended as a reassuring gesture, and say:
"Well, I'm not much for the gods, myself, but I've got a bit a' healin magics up my sleeve if need be. I'll make sure you aren't carryin' the whole load, for sure sweetheart."
Bowing while introducing myself: "Pabalar Daedan, ex-wizard of The Floating City Voxis. Now a rogue wizard, always trying to find new sources and subjects for my experiments. Magic business is quite expensive, so i'm a bit short of funds for the moment, which makes this "job" a good opportunity for some coins to help me in the future. Also, i love to solve mysteries, which we have one here. That may be leading to a new mystery, or may lead to powerful artifacts to support my researches..." and keeps talking, briefly noticing that everyone is bored of that much information, so slowly reduces his voice, and shuts up smoothly.
To be able to see if there is anything magic in the tavern, I casts Detect Magic as ritual just out of curiosity.
She looks over to Garvin and has to look up a little. She smiles at the halfling, being a gnome she's glad to find someone who doesn't tower over her quite as much. "Well thank goodness for that."
She tries to pay attention to Pabalar, she really does. But his droning reminds her of her brothers droning on and on about how 'indoor plumbing' is the wave of the future and she just zones out and nods.

"Okay, I'm convinced. The money sounds pretty good, and I've been itching to move on from here anyway. I'll sign up next."
Shaede
Shaede eyes the envoy from afar and tries to see if he is telling the truth about the creatures attacking the caravans and his intention of paying.
