The goblins motion vaguely and begin heading off into the darkness. After another long most of the day you can begin to see the dim red glow from the city on the horizon, and the faint smell of smoke and iron. The two goblins point the way toward the city and dash back into the darkness behind you.
"You'll have your gold, soon!" Crowfell promises, starting to trudge towards the city. "Bath and comfortable beds, first... or try to get an audience with the leader and tell him about the demons and the Demon Prince?" He wonders of his companions, as he's already digging through for his papers.
"I say we find lodging first, then inform the city watch. That way, they can at least start some kind of preparations while their lord is being informed. If they need us, they'll know where to find us." Finn says, thinking about chains of command and probable procedures.
"Okay. Just follow me and I'll be able to get us the finest of foods and most comfortable of beds! It'll be a much different change from here on out, boys and girls!" Crowfell promises. Heading straight for the city. Already getting his documentation and papers ready.
Crowfell approaches the gates. "Greetings! I am the messenger of Duchess..." He lists the name of his Duchess, papers already in order. "I was assaulted on my way elsewhere... and now I've made it here. Won't you let me and my companions in?"
The ground at your feet has been getting smoother and flatter, a welcome respite from the uneven passages to which you have grown wearily accustomed. Eventually, stone tiles become more noticeable, turning the path into a proper road. You can see spots of light in the distance, blue-white and too regularly placed to be phosphorescent mushrooms.
The lights are proper lamps flanking two massive stone gates blocking the tunnel. Before you get a chance to examine the intricate carvings on the gates’ surface, a harsh voice hisses from a slit on the cavern wall that was not therebefore.
“State your names and business!” the voice orders in Dwarvish. Other similar slits open, revealing the tips of a dozen crossbow bolts. Behind you, a metallic din announces a group of six heavily armored dwarves appearing out of thin air, their swords leveled at you from behind sturdy metal shields.
"DROW!? Why in infernal's name should I let you in!?"
Alex glances up from his writing and quickly pulls his sleeves down to hide his fire friend. As he looks around he takes a step away from the group and waits for someone to start talking.
"We were attacked by Drow." Crowfell corrects. "We came here seeking shelter from them, and to alert you- the Demon Prince is here. And he has several demons with him."
Finn steps forward and says in dwarvish, "Friends! I am Finn McTire son of Thalgar of clan McCulloch. My companions and I were waylaid on the road by a band of evil drow and escaped from their foul intentions weeks ago. We seek only a few nights respite and the chance to pass on news that the Demon Prince is near."

"Nope, sorry, yer gonna have to do better than that!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Please, my companion here is not lying. We were captured by Drow, but escaped during a Demon attack. We barely escaped with our lives, and we would have died if it weren't for some fine folk that unfortunately had to leave us for their homes.

Look, one more try...you wanna tell me what in the hell blazes yer doin' here!?
Alex shuffles forward and then brings his book up to show some of his notes, including overly detailed notes about meeting the party. "Um... well... you see sir. I was down here studying hooked horrors, fascinating creatures by the way," Alex goes on to ramble about what he was studying down here, meeting the party, what they have told him, and a lot of other extraneous information. He mostly just ends up babbling at the guards until they respond or tell him to shut up.
Crowfell gives a little wave. Before pointing, "Onwards we go!" A glance at the two again. "Try not to get eaten."
Alex nods to the two as they leave and turns to the rest of the party, "So... which way?"

Sennet keeps an eye out, trying to see if anyone is looking at their group weirdly.

(Everyone seems pretty normal as such. They might be weird, but it's a normal weird)
