Aurelius does indeed open the door, once Flynt has returned from scouting. He will peer downward, the light from his flame tongue longsword dispelling the shadows. If no immediate threats are apparent, he will descend warily.
When you open the trapdoor, it appears that it once led down to a cellar. The first two stone steps are still in place at the top. Beyond that they have crumbled. What may have once been wooden supports are broken and scattered. Earthen walls have collapsed inward and what little space there is is filled with debris.
It is not possible to go that way. And it would take at least a day's work to start to clear it. Perhaps more.
(There were some separate buildings across the way).
If the roof and the main level appear clear (did we search around under the stairs?) then Aurelius suggests proceeding across the courtyard to one of the other buildings, perhaps the one in the northeast corner to start?
You head back around the building outside the walled area. It takes a moment, and Sozi and Acorn are first to greet you. Then Triserla appears, who seemed to have found a spot to hide amongst the trees. She evidently heard the commotion of fighting and kept hidden.
Heading back, Triserla decides she should still stay back, just in case. You check each of the buildings, but do not find anything. There are tracks which seem consistent with the creatures you defeated. But nothing else seems to be lingering here.
Finding no more enemies to conquer, Aurelius extinguishes and sheathes his sword. He telepathically summons Lady from her hiding place in the forest.
He gazes at Triserla. "Well? Have we fulfilled our quest? The ruins are yours once again. Unless you know the location of the breach whereby these creatures entered your world, there is nothing more we can do here."
Flynt's check of the compass reveals little change in the distance and direction of the artifact.
You meet with Triserla as Aurelius summons Lady. "As best as I can tell, the place seems quiet now. We had best get back to the others." She turns to head off, adding, "We have not determined the exact source of these creatures. But I think it is something we can look into. If you have pressing matters to get to."
"Oh! Yes, of course Elyria!"Triserla says and leads you all back to the grove where Zol'nard is waiting for you. Ranamys and Kelhorn do not seem to be present.
"Welcome back. It does seem you have removed a darkness from this forest. Our great patron seems satisfied, we will point you in the direction of the central grove. Please come back here once you have obtained the mushrooms and item you seek." Zol'nard says.
(You will once again need to make a Survival check to follow the directions Zol'nard and Triserla give you. With advantage and +5 still.)

Elyria follows Triserla back to the grove. "Thank you Zol'nard, we've only done our duty to this forest." She says to the Centaur with a bow before leaving for the central grove. Survival: 22

Elyria and the dire wolves don't hear anything from the trap door.
Aurelius notes that the eel headed creatures do not seem to carry anything. They simply have a slightly slimy skin and odd-looking features.
Flynt also sees nothing.

Elyria, Gere and Freke will follow Aurelius.
"Better go check on Triserla before we get involved with something else." Says Flynt.

Aurelius nods, "Yes, I agree. Back to the entrance to check on the druid, then we will check the southeastern building, if all are willing."
Elyria nods and follows Aurelius, Gere and Freke trailing behind.
