Round 2

She is unable to pull free. "HELP!! Use the fire!"

Round 3

The root pulls Yoë 10' closer to the tree. 

One large tree branch swings heavily at Aurelius.

(Attack: 24, Damage: 22 bludgeon and DC 18 STR Save or knocked prone)

(Aurelius is now up, then Flynt)

Aurelius STR save 24.  "Ooof!" he says, as the thick branch catches him squarely in the chest. "Quel coup!  You are a formidable foe, Monsieur Arbre!"

If he is prone, he will stand up.   If not, he will remain standing.  Either way he will turn to attack the root that is wrapped around Yoë.  If by some chance the first attack severs the root, he would pivot back to the main trunk for the second attack.

First Longsword Attack: 21 Damage: 9 magical slashing + 2 fire damage + 2 necrotic damage

Second Longsword Attack: 21 Damage: 5 magical slashing + 8 fire damage + 6 necrotic damage

(I wasn't sure if the hex on the tree applied to the root as well.  If not, ignore the necrotic damage)

(The Hex on the tree can affect the root.) 

Round 3

The initial attack does sever the root holding Yoë.  Aurelius then turns to attack the tree and again misses. 

(Flynt is up.) 

Flynt racks off three more shots.

Attack: 18 Damage: 16

Attack: 6 Damage: 17

Attack: 11 Damage: 19

 As the bolts fly Flynt invokes his fire rune. Fiery shackles appear around a couple limbs.

The shackles do 7 fire damage and (I don't even know how a tree could be restrained. So we can disregard that if you like.) the tree must STR save DC12 or be restrained.

Round 3

Only one of Flynt's shots hit the tree this time.  

Yoë, now free of the root, continues to back away from the tree.  "Thank you Aurelius. Thank you!" she says, clearly relieved to be free.  She still holds the small wooden dagger in her hand but seems to have no desire to advance forward to use it.  

Round 4

Another root pops up trying to grab onto Flynt this time.  
(Attack: 20, on success you are restrained and have Disadvantage on CON Saves and Checks) 

Another branch moves and tries to hit Aurelius. 
(Attack: 17 Damage: 18, if hits STR Save DC 18 or you are knocked prone.)  

(Aurelius is up) 

The paladin dodges the branch this time. "You are tenacious, Monsieur!  It is time for a little... pruning!"

First Longsword Attack: 17 Damage: 12 magical slashing + 7 fire damage + 1 necrotic damage

Second Longsword Attack: 13 Damage: 11 magical slashing + 11 fire damage + 1 necrotic damage

Invoking his Giants might, Flynt attempts to break free of the root.

Save: 9

(I re-read the description and though I don't believe the tree could be restrained from moving the fiery manacles could stay in place till the tree removes them.)

Fiery cuffs= 4

Round 4

Aurelius hits the tree with his first blow, the second missing.  

Flynt is still restrained by the root.  (Tree STR Save: 20)   
Although the cuffs briefly burn the tree it quickly breaks free of them. 

Yoë, not far from Flynt, rushes towards him, making a quick chopping motion with her dagger at the root. 
(Attack: 12 Damage: 5)

Round 4

Yoë's attack misses the root.  

Round 5

The root pulls Flynt 10' closer (I'll say he's 45' away at the moment).  

Yet another branch swings down at Aurelius. 
(Attack: 12 Damage: 15, on hit make STR Save DC 18 or be knocked prone)

And another root pops up close to Yoë trying to grab her.
(Attack: 26, on hit restrained and Disadvantage on CON Saves and Checks) 

The fire from both Aurelius' and Flynt's attacks do seem to weaken the tree somewhat, and it does not seem to be able to heal the damage this time. 

(Aurelius is up) 

(And yes - I agree the shackle damage works from Flynt but not being restrained. They would have remained had the Save not been made.) 

Round 5

Ducking another attack from his leafy foe, Aurelius hacks at the root restraining Flynt.  If he succeeds there, his next attempt would be to free the satyr, if not he would try again to release the human.

First Longsword Attack: 9 Damage: 9 magical slashing + 7 fire damage + 1 necrotic damage

Second Longsword Attack: 21 Damage: 12 magical slashing + 9 fire damage + 5 necrotic damage

Flynt struggles to free himself from the root again invoking his giants might.

Round 5

Aurelius second blow manages to hit, and easily releases Flynt.

Flynt is still unable to get free. 

Yoë decides to make a bit of a run for it, going full speed away from the tree.  

Round 6

The root around Yoë drags her yet another 10' closer (35' away now). 

Yet another root pops up and attempt to grab Aurelius. 
(Attack: 30; if hits restrained and Disadvantage on CON Saves and Checks)

And then a branch takes a swipe at Aurelius as well. 
(Attack: 17 Damage: 21, on hit STR Save DC 18 or knocked prone) 

(Aurelius is up!) 

Corrrection to Round 5: 
Yoë tries to pull free of the root. (STR Save DC 18: 5)

(Sorry my intention had been that if the first blow missed, the second would also have been to free Flynt)

(AIso, since Aurelius was restrained, I think the other attack should have been at advantage.  As it stands, it misses)

 Read it backwards! Yes - I will change the post so that Flynt is free. 

Flynt scrambles free of the root just in time to see another attach to Aurelius. Still benefiting from his Giants might he grabs the root and fries to free his companion.

Aurelius is unable to get away from the root that has old of him.  Flynt's attacks all miss this time. 

Yoë is still trying to break free of the hold of the root that has her. This time she just tries striking at the root with her dagger.
(Attack: 9 Damage: 3)

Yoë's strike misses. 

Round 7

The root pulls at Yoë bringing her closer to the tree.  (Now 25' away)

A new root strikes out at Flynt.
(Attack: 12, if hits restrained and Disadvantage on CON Saves and Checks)

As the root holds Aurelius, it seems to squeeze a bit then he sees a red glow briefly before his eyes. 
(Attack: 25 Damage: 7 pierce, 2 necrotic, HP max reduced by amount of necrotic damage) 

(Aurelius is then up.) 

The paladin is no longer amused.  "You are tedious, monsieur!  It is time to end this!"

He strikes with his longsword against the root binding him, (at disadvantage, if the first attack fails, he will try again.  If it succeeds, he will attempt to free Yoë.)

First Longsword Attack: 15 Damage: 6 magical slashing + 11 fire damage + 6 necrotic damage

Second Longsword Attack: 10 Damage: 8 magical slashing + 11 fire damage + 4 necrotic damage

Flynt sees another root snare Aurelius. Sidestepping a root of his own, Flynt tries to pull the Saladin free.
