Kurik tried to follow from a distance, but the towns streets were winding, and the snow was so stamped down that there was no real 'tracking' foot prints in it. Unfortunately he sees the 'hunter' turn a corner up ahead, but as he quickly crunches through the snow to reach the corner, by the time he gets there, there's no sign of where either of them went. Cursing softly to himself, Kurik moves down the side street between the tightly packed buildings. Snow drifts are piled against buildings as he crunches over the icy path carefully looking and listening. Only the sound of the whistling wind rushing down the cramped streets of Bryn Shander. With a heavy sigh he realizes he's lost his prey...and his prey.
Harness all of them? Kari gives a laugh. I have my doubts if that's possible, my friend. I mean, they are free spirits, they don't really listen to anyone. Not that I've asked him to do much, but I think he would have to want to. Do you know what I mean? Too unpredictable. Something in the backbof her mind is bothering her though, so she pays more attention to the half elf. You mentioned testing stuff, I'm curious how you could test a spirit? I haven't heard of someone trying that before. As she listens to the answer Kari tries to work out if the little spirit will be a partner in this research or if it will be trapped and exploited.
Kari tries to judge Dannika. The girl seems a bit...desperate. Looking for something to cling to, to solve the cold winter. It's clear that Dannika's interest is in that, and in perhaps the notoriety that may earn her. But Kari judges that Dannika probably isn't driven by a deep need to protect nature or even this individual spirit.
Dannika shrugs, "Well, first I suppose I'd like to replicate this cold protection from the spirit you've mentioned. I'd probably try to see if it's simply being around him, or if he needs to choose to apply it. Can it help animals or just people? What about inanimate objects. I wonder if it could keep a bowl of water from freezing. Where did you say you found him? Anyway, there is a lot of potential and we know hardly anything. I just want to learn all about this little guy and what he can do. You know?"

Kurik moves further down and looks at a few side streets just on the off chance he gets lucky. If not he'd return back to the Tavern if he can find his way back.
Kurik decides to give it a few more minutes of poking about. How far could they have gotten. He ducks down an alley but not finding anything he walks back to the street. As he reaches the street he sees the cloaked figure emerge from an alley he’d already walked past. He doesn’t look Kuriks way but instead turns and looks like he’s heading back towards the tavern. ?

At first kurik receives his surface thoughts unbidden. “….the caravan heads to Good Mead early morn. My work here is done. I wonder what work awaits me in Good Mead. The lady has those who shirk their duty to her everywhere….maybe a hunter…some prey that is more challenging.”
Then his spell let’s him try to seep further into the man’s mind

The thoughts travelling in his mind are strange in some way….alien, an image of an icy blue face with eyes of pure white light piercing his soul….the ice maiden. The man, though he breathes no longer, is a servant of hers. He has one goal, to slay those who insult the maiden. Some pay to get their names out of the sacrifice draws. Some light a lamp when there should be darkness. Some leave out only their rotten food. Insult the ice maiden and he will visit, and you will receive your just rewards.
The man stops abruptly and spins around looking for the person who dare read his mind.

Kurik draws his blade and charges, white clumps of snow flying as he charges down the narrow street towards the waiting figure. He gets within 25 feet and the dark powers of his Hex grasp out and bind about his enemy. He slashes at the air three times, the blade strikes sweeping down the alley sending snow spraying away into the air as he strike hits the man. The first hits, the second nearly topples him from it's force, and the third slashes into him. Staggering backwards by the ferocity of the sudden attack, the man looks shaken....but doesn't break.
(roll extra damage for that 2nd critical hit)
He grimaces in pain, though even as you watch, the bruise on one of his cheeks begins to heal up. He holds out a hand, and a long blade of ice seems to slowly form out of the icy air in his grip. He steps towards Kurik threateningly but then explodes into a spray of snow which settles onto the ground, any sign of the man gone.

The small masked spirit looks up at Kari questioningly.
Kurik glances and as the man suddenly up and vanishes before him. He glances left and right, and then he eyes catch some bits of snow rolling down from a rooftop to the right of the street, and glances up to see some deep footprints near the peak of the roof. He hears the sound of quiet movement from the other side of the peak. A moment later the man pops up. In his hand he holds a dagger of ice. He whips it down at Kurik, quickly followed by a second, and then ducks down below the peak of the roof again.

Kari looks at the little chwinga for a couple of seconds, and then back up at the half elf. To be honest, I'm a little uneasy. And I'll tell you why, it's not that I think you're a bad person, but I've known one or two people who study things, and they forget that there might be limits. My main worry is that you think of this bright and quirky spirit as more of a tool or object, when you should be thinking of it as a partner. Do you see what I'm saying? I am very close to my own ancestor spirits, and have a great deal of respect for spirits of all kinds. I would like some assurance that you will also show respect, but ultimately it will be up to the little fellow if he would like to go with you. He is not something I can give or keep, he has his own mind.

Kurik sees the snow fall just in time to see the icicles tossed at him. He tilts his head the side dodging one and sways a little avoid the other. He then grips his sword, crouches slightly and hops. As he does so his spell shifts him through space and he lands near the fellow. He closes the last few steps and raises his sword. Energy surrounds the blade and he stabs at the man.
Bonus action: cast far step spell allowing him to teleport 60ft, can sustain 1 minute and use a bonus action to telepirt again
Move: close any needed distance to the man

Additional thunder damage 9, additional damage if he moves 14
Kurik leaps, shimmering through existence and lands with a "puff" onto the peak of the roof. The man looks shocked and attempts to dodge as a blade is suddenly swinging towards him. The blade strike the man. Rather than blood, bits of frozen flesh and a red snow sprays into the air. He clutches the wound, and with a sneer turns and flees (disengage). He rushes away, the thunder damage tearing into him as he does. He rushes down the roof and leaps, exploding into a puff of snow and then appearing on the rooftop across the way. He leaps down a peak and takes cover behind a dormer. (he ends a total of 60 feet from Kurik on another rooftop, with full cover from ranged attacks)
Dannika nods, clearly trying to appease Kari's concerns, "Oh yes, of course. Don't worry. We'll be fine. A partner. Certainly. But a partner who could control the hold the keys to unlocking this winter. With just the right nudge." She gives a smile and wags her finger at the masked creature. It looks at her finger waving back and forth and follows it intently. Then it jumps up and does a little "hurray" dance, and hops back and forth on it's feet trying to emulate the finger motion.

Kurik sighs... "They run... they always run," he mutters to himself. He keeps his eyes on the man and quickly closes the distance with a dimensional hop. He will raise his sword again in similar fashion and strike.
