Banjo Man arrives at the marketplace, ready to question every single merchant. It would take an absurd amount of time, but he would achieve fame and money for finding that murderer...
And he really needed money.
Internal monologue aside, Banjo Man begins asking merchants if they have seen or bought an axe from anyone that matches the suspect's description.
"No my friend and i lived very far away from here. We liked to travel and travel which lead us here we made so many friends that we couldnt stay with along our journeys, one night he said we should get a drink, haha next minute i knew we were having games with total strangers. He dares me to go in demand to fight in the Coliseum and so i did. He saw me win my first fight."
"I swear. Vhy does it always have to be so expensive." Marmaduke mutters as she paruses the paper. She had to be sure the shop was legitimate this time. Sure, it was her own fault for trusting a roadside merchant who didn't properly understand magic and its nuisances. But this didn't mean "proper" shops weren't in the business of misleading another 'crater dweller'. So what if her fellow gold --
Marmaduke jumps on the spot, and had to flail around after to make sure she didn't drop the ink. Following a satisfied sigh, she looks back and squints up at Liam. "V--*clears throat* What? You mean for shopping, or-..." She trails off there and cants her head. "Hm! Wait... You're... Are you one of the competitors?"
Liam will never understand why he’s the only one that knows these kinds of phrases, but enough of that. Right now, he has to respond.
”Yeah. I lost my last few matches though...Uh, so what’s wrong? What’s so expensive?”

"Well my friend he left, soon after my first match but im from Corm Orp, lived there with my family until me and my friend sought to adventure into the Sunset Mountains at a younger age than youd expect. What about you were are you from?
"Huh, you don't say? My older sis is still over there, last I knew. Hope she's doing alright...hope your friend makes it there, too. Plenty of bandits between here and Waterdeep."

That was more sad then romantic. Are civilized families really so picky about how their children spend there personal time? Grianne never had a family so she knows little to nothing about how they work.
"Well... It depends on the family. Most noble houses are really picky about stuff like this. However, it's also not too uncommon for other families to also be picky."
"Well, it's clearly not my man, considering that the suspect is human."
Banjo man moves on to checking with the manager every kind actual shop, starting at weapon suppliers and ending with magic shops (for his daily errands. Two birds with one stone)
“Oh, uh..I was under the impression you’d split on good terms...if you’re only bound here by honor of a dare, why stay? Sounds like you’d rather not be here.”
"After that night he took all my coin... and bolted after I had run my first match. I stayed to work my money back but I after I did, I liked the people and I like the rewards. So far ive had a streak, my performances werent so much a trait of mine, drinking, love it but upon my first battle I knew he was in the crowd. We both loved a good laugh. But he had darker pursuits.

Marmaduke goes to clap her hands together. But realizing the ink bottle in one hand and papers in the other, she stops just short. "Woof... Twice in one day." She snorts. "Sorry. You were -- Wait, r-right. You see this here? Not cheap. Not cheap at all. Ink? Sure. The rest of it? Not so much. It's ridiculous!"
Marmaduke sighs. "I s'pose I should be more grateful. That we /all/ should be more grateful that Muradin didn't have a heavier hand in these sorts of things. You humans would never live long enough to scribe even one proper spell scroll." She says before letting out a hearty chuckle. "I must admit to being curious. No offense. But you don't 'xactly strike me as the magic wielding sort. And... Mmmm… if you... No, no! Just take my advice. If its like a trick or two you wish to learn, I teach you. But anything else other trinkets I would'n bother." Marmaduke pauses to let her words sink in. "You see. My old company had a saying... A dwarf divided.... is pretty much dead dwarf." She giggles so much that she starts snorting.
"But what do I know? You humans grow so fast, you pick up things quick."
