The jianghsi swings three times at Draskan missing with all three attacks. It glares ate Sheridan, who must make a DC 16 Con save or take 15 necrotic damage. Half on a success
Oriki, believing the creature must be near death, brings himself to a crouch. With a cry, he sprints at the Jiangshi, blades drawn, crossing the space rapidly and jumping up to plunge both blades into its torso...
His weight full behind the attack Oriki plunges both blades through the undead heart of the creature, tearing it from the spectral vines and bearing it to the floor. It screeches one last time before crumbling to dust. Seconds pass as quiet returns to the night…
Looking into the chest you find 15 gold coins, some correspondence, a rod of some description, a short sword and a necklace. All three items give off a magical aura to your finely honed senses
The short sword has disruption enchantments engraved upon it. The rod seems to enhance the powers of a warlock and the necklace has runic inscriptions of non detection upon it. You also discover correspondence to an Under-captain, Zachaeus, about how to properly contain and torture ghosts without dispersing their essence, and to practice on the common folk before attempting to question Irik Zal’honen’s spectre. There is also directions for the wights leading the convoy on where to take the delivery
Argetlam slumps to his knees and heals the worst of his wounds. Lets get away from here and rest for the night. Then head for that location mentioned in the correspondence?
You beat a weary retreat from the ambush site, wary of the unquiet souls lurking within the Mists and make a hasty camp several miles later. You bed down for the remainder of the night to recuperate.
After an uncomfortable night by a low fire, shrouded in the mists, you wake up with the dawn. Stretching you spend some time over breakfast mulling over the items you looted from the caravan, identifying the amulet as proof against detection, the short sword does additional damage to undead and fiends, and the rod will allow Sheridan to cast spells with more potency as well as acting as an arcane repository for spell energy.
Argetlam spend some time mulling over the directions and correspondence. Any of you lot know who Irik Zal'honen is? Or why the Baron is trying to torture information out of their ghost?
Sheridan feels an odd sensation roil through him, presumably from his patron, a sense of urgency to find this ghost and rescue them, not in a benevolent way, more in a possessive manner.
It is curious, his death came at the same time as the year appeared, when Rex disappeared. Could it be that the experiment failed causing this? Either way, I feel we need to learn more

IT struggles against the vines but is unable to break free
Sheridan chugs a potion for 5 back and then creates a spectral skeletal hand to attack with a Chill Touch spell
Argetlam, completely out of spells swings twice at the creature, scoring two long lines across it before chugging a potion himself

Sheridan retrieves his hat and looks around for something to patch himself up with, or at least something to help pay for said patching
Looking into the chest you find 15 gold coins, some correspondence, a rod of some description, a short sword and a necklace. All three items give off a magical aura to your finely honed senses
Sheridan shares out the coins, pores over the correspondence and hefts the staff, looking it over.
I can't make much use of a sword. Oriki? Argetlam? Sadly I have no idea what enchantments are bolstering any of these...for now.
Draskan walks over and takes a look at the items found

Sheridan nods in agreement and will study the staff to try and figure out what it does during the journey back.

Sheridan goes distant for a second.
I know that he died during an experiment attempting to assist Azalin Rex, but sadly I have no idea what the experiment was or what the result was.
He then looks a little confused as to how he could know that but so little of his own life.

That would explain the Baron's interest then, I reckon its a good idea to disrupt this Zachaeus' interrogation, what do you guys think?
We surely must. Let's not delay any longer, a soul is being tortured as we speak.
