Olaerys hears the report from Panga, puts his head down. "Ok, ok. How can we use this to our advantage. Was there any cover? Any way to pick the lock and set the bear loose on them? It would be a great distraction, and could seriously harm them. Options?"

“Ok, I could walk up to them and spin a line of bullshit so thick they can’t see through it, new recruit, excited to join, make a lot of gold, yadda yadda yadda. Meanwhile, you guys keep me covered, let the bear out to wreak havoc and we will give them what for. What do you think?” Olaerys looks around for other opinions or approval.

Melchor mutters a few words, accompanied by a few gestures - more dexterous than his spoon handling - along with a gentle glow from a crystal in his other hand, and you see him outlined briefly with an almost phosphorescent glow before it fades.
‘I’m ready.’ he says softly, ‘I’ll keep back, at least 100 feet, but I’ll be able to watch proceedings from a distance…’
Melchor has cast Mage Armor, and has Glimmer in place to watch the camp. She’ll come and tell him if anything significant happens, but otherwise will keep watch.

Olaerys say "Thank you Fr'reona, I can use all of the blessings that I can get for this." He turns to Frail and says "Make sure that bear knows that we are the good guys, we will let it go free, encourage it to help us with its captors." He then turns to all, "Everyone ready? Ok, let's go." Once everyone is in place....
Olaerys stops to pick up some mud and dirt and cover his shield with it, spreads a little bit on his armor, not too much, just a little. He starts walking up the trail to the hideout muttering to himself. "Not enough pay for a good days work. They don't appreciate me. Jess and Gerlach can take that job and shove it. I'm not sticking my neck out for them any more, it doesn't pay. I need a new crew, this has got to be the place. Right, be presentable, hopefully they'll want me." He knocks some of the dirt off his armor, straightens up and walks straight toward the four sitting outside the entrance, angling away from the bear so that their heads will be turned when they look at him and talk to him. He makes himself the picture of "the new recruit", trying to make a good impression. A man who has seen some action, but wants to work for the "right" sort of people, those that he can make money with. He allows this muttering to be a volume to be heard by the 4 as he approaches.
Olaerys looks up when he approaches the 4, stops about 15-20 ft away from them. "Hello there. ***** of a hot day, isn't it? I was told that this was the place to look for work, for those who know how to swing an axe properly and "get things done" if you know what I mean. Is that right? Could you fellas use another strong arm to swing an axe, to join you? Does the work pay well?" He spits a big wad of phlegm out of the side of his mouth and stands in his best tough man stance, flashes them a grin. He speaks to all 4 of them, engaging them with his eyes and distracting their attention.

Leaning heavily on his cane, Melchor moves slowly after the others, the wooden peg at the bottom of his right leg digging into the soft earth of the forest. He aims to get to within 100feet of the camp by the time the bear has been released…
Randall offers to cover and protect each of the casters. If any of you take him up on the offer he will park alongside you and wait for the fireworks. If no one is interested, he will wait further back maybe 120 feet? but prepared to sprint to support Olaerys.

Standing a bit behind Frail, Panga attempts to utilize her past experience with animals in an attempt to help out Frail as they reassure the bear. She does her best to help the two of them appear friendly to the bear.

As Olaerys enters the clearing, it seems like time stands still as many things happen at once. Not expecting any company, the humans around the campfire immediately take arms and perceive Olaerys as a threat. The bear, sensing the tension raises it's hackles and appears ready to go berserk, until Panga settles it with uncanny calmness.
Olaerys, is able to recognize, just in time, that his ruse has failed, and Fr'reona cues off of his body language to loose a crossbow bolt at the nearest bandit (B1).

she says as she touches the top of Olaery's shoulder giving him Guidance for stepping forward into the fray.
"I shall cover you."
she says with a smile as she releases her touch from his shoulder. She then turns towards the others as if waiting to follow.
"I will come up a bit closer with you Frail and stay hidden nearby," Panga adds as she moves to hide once everyone is ready.
