Razi peacefully slumbers in his bed at the inn. "Zzzzz... Zzzzz... Zzzzz... - snort - ... Zzzzz...(mumble) Hmmn double down on the nine... (mumble)... Zzzzz... Zzzzz... Zzzzz...".
*Sorry about this. I'll try to wrap this up soonish.

Nelyna has been playing quietly, silently enjoying the game. She's never really played any games of chance before. Master Neralmo never let her. He said such things were foolish and frivolous, but she thought they were also surprisingly interesting and fun. She wagered a single silver, not confident at all since she was such a novice. The old man who had sat down to join them seemed nice enough. Nelyna's eyes had widened when she saw the platinum piece he laid upon the table.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"You're a quiet one, aren't you?" Caine says to the old man. "All business or just not the chatty type? I like to talk while I'm playing cards. Otherwise it gets too serious and then it feels like a job. And if I wanted a job I'd have listened to my mother and well, I don't see that happening. She'd have me working at the King and Queen Inn, or the Three Dragons. Or for old Jack the tinker. Or is he a tailor."
Caine keeps up a constant steady chatter while at the table, such that he's able to sprinkle into conversation a few snippets of coded Cant for Jim to pick up on. As he lets Jim know what cards he has, Caine watches for reactions and signals.
"I feel good about this," Caine says finally and tosses a silver coin onto the table. "I'll raise the pot a silver. I'm feeling luck so how about two more cards."
Card 1: 9 or 9
Card 2: 10 or 2
Taking the 6 and the 8 (from advantage) and slips them in with his original cards, Caine's sitting on 20 and feeling pretty good about things.
"Just a bit of luck," Caine says. "Listen, oldtimer. Did you have any interactions with those travelers outside of the gates? Know anything about them? They were a curious group. Great storytellers, but didn't exactly come off as the most trustworthy."
Caine looks over at Sleet, raises his eyebrows and chuckles.
"Every time you learn a lesson is a win, no?" Caine says to Sleet.
He then looks back to the old man.
"They've asked for our help and want us to accompany them back to their homeland in the morning," Caine says. "I don't think they were lying to us either. But they definitely weren't telling us everything. Do you know if anyone else has ever gone with them? You know, went them and didn't return?"
Nelyna shakes her head at the strange dragonborn. Why is he so obsessed with pigeons? After checking into her room, she lays down on the lumpy bed and tries to sleep, but so many questions whirl in her mind. What is Barovia like? How far is it? What kind of curse has taken the lord, and what will they be able to do about it? Nelyna has only been on a few expeditions so far, and this will be the most exciting and possibly most dangerous thing she's done yet. If they are successful in breaking the curse, perhaps Master Neralmo will finally promote her to the rank of full wizard. She smiles at the thought and drifts into sleep dreaming of the future.
Caine lights several candles and the lantern in his room, doing his best to keep the shadows banished from the corners. He wedges the door shut and checks the window's latch is fixed.Once satisfied, he sleeps, candles burning, room locked tight. Despite that, his dreams are still troubled by shadowy images, flitting about at the edge of his vision.
Upon waking, he's happy to see sunlight oozing into the room.
He dresses quickly and goes looking for breakfast and the others.
Jim put his dagger under his pillow as he lies on his bed and goes to sleep. He has another nightmare that leaves him waking up with a sweat. He lies there for a moment in the dark thinking about his dream. He won't let something like that happen to another woman... no any other person every again. He will learn mastery of the arcane arts and then those who seek to prey on the innocent will have to look out for him.
When the early rays of sunlight shine through the window, Jim wakes up. He doesn't remember falling back to sleep. On the other hand, he is not exactly tired. He takes his time with preparing himself before going to find everyone else.

"It was more of a rhetorical question, I was hatched at night but not last night. I know some real pros when I see them."
Caine smiles at the old man and hands him back his platinum piece.
"Thanks for the game and the information," Caine says.
He looks over at the others.
"If the travelers send word early we might as well think about getting some sleep. Who know how far away their home is."
After playing the games, Jim nods his head. "Aye, I believe it is getting late now. I think we should be getting some shut eye."
