Copper lands two solid blows with his axe, sorely wounding both of the crossbow-wielding duergars. Riv, despite his wounds, charges into the fray at Copper's side, swinging his warpick...
Attack on duergar 3: 24 Damage: 10
Ruby's attack narrowly misses the duergar spellcaster; so also does Friar's. Douth, however, strikes the duergar twice.
The duergars make their response. One of them (#2) splashes through the water, summoning a spiritual weapon as it does so. The duergar swings its warpick at Douth and directs its spectral weapon toward Friar...
Warpick attack on Douth: 13 Damage: 10

Meanwhile, Copper and Riv watch one of the duergars (#3) drop his weapon and stagger backward into the water. It appears that he is coming out of some sort of trance and is trying to make sense of what is transpiring around him. The other duergar (#4), however, continues the fight, hoping to wound Copper from close range...
Crossbow shot at Copper (w/ disadvantage) 13 Damage: 3
Miznak seems content to stand still and watch the battle unfold without offering any assistance. And for a second time, the unknown telepathic voice rings through everyone's mind: How bravely you fight!
(All players may act in any order; duergar 3 appears to have abandoned the fight, but he is susceptible to an opportunity attack; the spiritual weapon is denoted by the yellow dot)
The crossbow is in too tight against Copper and it glances off his armor before it even has a chance to fire.
Looking around at the unfolding battle, Copper notices the change in the one duergar.
"They're being controlled. Either the spellcaster or Miznak," says Copper. Or whatever this voice is, he thinks to himself.
Regardless of that, the remaining duergar in front of him is clearly trying to kill Copper.
He slashes out with his axe again, not holding back, but trying to turn the blade as it connects to let the flat side knock the gray dwarf (#4) down instead of slicing him open. If he's still standing after that, Copper slams him again with the back swing.
Ruby watches as the Druegars attack and then Friar's attack, what?? Something happened there, she just isn't sure what. When she hears Copper shout about them being controlled, she decides to do what she can.
She heads up beside Douth to attack #2 with her rapier, but she uses the butt of the hilt instead of the point, for unlethal force damage
Attack: 25 Damage: 12
Then with her fancy footwork, she walks around Douth to Friar and slaps him across the face to hopefully wake him up!
Friar is going to try and snap out of it, being assisted by Ruby's slap 12
(I should've offered a better explanation on this. No roll is needed for Friar. The duergar spellcaster only momentarily affects her target psionically. Once Friar made the attack on Douth, Friar is free to act normally.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Copper's axe narrowly misses on its first pass at the duergar, but the second cuts deep. Nearby, Ruby delivers a powerful blow with the non-lethal end of her weapon. And the duergar spellcaster is struck three times in quick session, twice by Douth and once by Friar.
Riv turns his ire on Miznak, and does so by rushing toward his Timrizash clan member while simultaneously enlarging himself as duergars can do.
As the next phase of the struggle begins, yet another duergar (#4) shows no interest in continuing the fight. He too appears to be confused by the chaos. Stepping back he lowers his weapon and turns toward Miznak, seemingly awaiting for orders. Those orders never come, however, for Miznak is responding in kind to Riv. Enlarging himself, he turns and runs southward on a path that will inevitably lead him to a clash with Riv.
To the north, the hooded duergar (#1) moves closer to the fray, but as she does so, she reduces herself in size, becoming no larger than a common house cat. All of you instantly realize that targeting her with any sort of attack will be exceedingly difficult.
Now standing toe-to-toe with Ruby, Douth, and Friar, duergar #2 directs his spiritual weapon at Friar once again...
Spiritual weapon attack: 24 Damage: 16
...and then reaches toward Ruby with his bare hand...
Melee spell attack: 24 for 33 necrotic damage
All players may act, in any order. Duergars 3 and 4 are wounded but show no signs of continuing the fight.
Ruby leaps back when the druegar tries to reach her and yells “Darn it! Stop it, there is no reason to attack us!!” She pulls out her other rapier and uses the hilt on both of them to hopefully knock some sense into the guy.
Copper looks over his shoulder and sees the other three have the one duergar well in hand. He sees the spellcaster shrink and then sees Miznak grow and move to fight Riv.
He decides the others can handle the spellcaster and heads after Riv to deal with Miznak.
"You two, sit down and clear your heads," Copper says to the two duergar's who seem to be coming to their senses. "Someone was controlling your minds."
He then heads off at a clanking run to skirt the lake.
Copper rushes around the southern portion of the subterranean lake, following Riv toward the oncoming Miznak. Ruby lands two more powerful strikes on her opponent (#2), causing him to collapse to the cavern floor unconscious.
The tiny hooded duergar (#1) proves to be too elusive for Douth as both spell attacks smash into the cavern wall.
Friar's action is next; the duergars will follow. Only Miznak and duergar #1 are active in the melee.
Friar's crossbow bolt zips through the air and shatters into multiple pieces when it strikes the rock wall of the cavern.
The entire battle scene in the cavern is unexpectedly altered in the next few seconds. The murky water of the subterranean lake begins to stir, almost as if some enormous creature has suddenly and powerfully disrupted the lake. A massive wall of water surges toward everyone in the cavern. The force of the water is both abrupt and violent. Four of the five duergars are knocked off their feet and pulled into the lake. Copper, Riv, Ruby, and Douth manage to hold their ground as the putrid water washes over them. Friar, however, loses his footing, and he is pulled into the lake as the water recedes.
The duergars in the water have abandoned the fight. They now begin to make every effort to flounder toward the shore. One of the duergars (#3) shrieks in pain as he swims and then goes limp. Whether he is unconscious or dead is impossible to tell.
All players may act in any order. Friar is prone. Duergar 2 is unconscious as a result of Ruby's attacks and, therefore, is likely to drown. Duergar 3 is either dead or unconscious. Duergar 5 = Miznak.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Copper grabs on to the rock face next to him as the water rises and pounds against all of them. He almost loses his balance, but the extra weight of his armor acts as an anchor and he keeps upright and above the water.
Spitting out the water the looks around quickly, taking in the situation.
<Was that you?> Copper thinks to the voice he heard before.
Without waiting for an answer, he moves another 20 feet along the shore to get as close as he can to Miznak without entering the water itself.
He then raises his shield, and hefts his axe in a battle-ready stance, ready to attack Miznak if he comes close.
Ruby take out her rope and hands one end of it to Douth, “Hold on to that and don’t let go!” Ruby ties the other end around her waist and starts heading out to the water towards Friar. If she can see that he is fine and working his way back she heads towards Druegar #2, she grabs his arm. If Friar is having trouble she helps him first.
Copper continues his charge around the southern arm of the subterranean lake; so too does Riv, who is clearly determined to engage with Miznak. To the north, Ruby and Douth, working in tandem with the rope are able to pull Friar to the edge of the lake where he can regain his footing.
Copper attempts to communicate telepathically with the source of the mysterious voice, but there is no response.
Two of the duergars (2, 3) slip beneath the surface of the water while Miznak and the spellcaster splash and struggle to make it to the shore. The third duergar (4) has now become fully alert. He moves away from the water and cries out, terrified, in Common. "The lake! She's in the lake!"
Riv covers enough ground to meet Miznak at the lake's edge. The battle between two enlarged duergars will soon ensue.
All players may act in any order. Duergar 1 is injured; duergar 4 is injured but seemingly uninterested in the battle; Miznak (5) is uninjured.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Copper keeps moving to engage with Miznak and support Riv. If the water looks shallow enough, he'll cut across the 10' little indent of water to the east of him to get to Miznak. If not he'll keep going around.
(Cutting across, might get him close enough to engage with Miznak. If it does, Copper will attack:

Second attack w/ battle axe: Attack: 9 Damage: 8
