Baldwin & All - The stairs descend deeper into the earth and at the bottom you see a 4-foot-diameter well shaft with a 3-foot-high stone lip that descends 30 feet to a water-filled cistern. A wooden bucket hangs from a rope-and-pulley mechanism bolted to the crossbeams above the well. Five side rooms appear to serve as living quarters. Each contains a wood-framed bed with a moldy straw mattress and a wooden chest to hold personal belongings. Each chest is secured with a rusty iron padlock.
If any one would search a room, please indicate which room (they are lettered). If you have Thieves' Tools and you'd like to attempt to pick the lock on a chest please make a DC 15 DEX check. If you have Thieves' Tools and you're proficient with them you may add your proficiency bonus (+2 for level 3 characters) to the roll. If you do not have thieves' tools and would like to attempt to open the chests another way, please feel free to get creative and let me know how you'd like to do that.
Ankita takes a look down the well and then inside the bucket. She then strides over to room C and attempts to open the chest by first casting frostbite on the iron lock and then hitting it with the staff to knock it loose.
Ankita - The well is dark as far as you can see and crisscrossed with cobwebs. Go ahead and make an attack roll with your staff with damage rolled as well.
As the others explore the rooms and attempt to open the chests, Zindarik stands near the southwestern exit of the room, watching for anything, or anyone, that might be approaching.
Ankita - You manage to strike the lock with a mighty blow, but fail to damage it.
Iron objects have a pretty high AC of 19. I reduced it to 18 due to the frostbite, but it is still a hard object to damage!
Zindarik - You see a set of stairs that ascends to a T-junction. Further south another set of stairs ascends beyond your sight. To the west of the T-junction a passage extends westward. The chanting is slightly louder where you now stand.
Upon hearing the chanting, Ankita realizes she got sidetracked and leaves room C. She walks over to Zindarik, "When the others are ready, lets go - we have a monster to slay."

Baldwin scans over the chest in room A with his avian eyes hoping that he can find a weak spot in the lock and chest where he can use his talons to open it.
Ankita & All - After climbing the southern set of stairs, you see a room that contains a plain wooden table flanked by long benches. Moldy humanoid bones lie strewn on the dirt floor. There is a dark alcove in the southern wall of the room.

Ankita appreciates Zindarik’s solid way of checking out the room, but is concerned about the dark alcove and checks it out so that no one can ambush them from behind.

Bringing up the rear Hofaen sees the party trying the chests in some of the rooms. Intrigued he moves to the west room (E) looking carefully at its contents (Investigation: 4) before trying to break the lock on the chest with his warhammer Attack: 12 Damage: 6.
Failing to break the lock Hofaen moves to follow his fellow adventurers saying “strange thing to have so many living quarters in a basement - something ill has befallen this place”. Seeing Zindarik looking at the room he moves east up the corridor he believes they started at the other end of. He takes the first entrance to the north off this passage.

Zindarik - The bones are humanoid and covered in gnaw marks. Most have been cracked open and had the marrow removed. It looks as though the bones were tossed over the shoulders of something dining at the large table in the middle of the room and left to lay on the floor. As you make your way along the southern edge of the table you hear Ankita call out to you about the same time you hear something slithering in the alcove behind you...
Ankita - You watch as Zindarik makes a slow orbit of the large table, taking care not to tread on too many of the scattered bones and as Hofaen heads down the eastern passage out of sight. Peering into the darkened alcove to the south you see something large and long slowly uncoiling in the shadows. Barbed tentacles reach out of the darkness as Zindarik passes in front of it!
Hofaen - You find two more crypts in this forked passage. Both sarcophagi are open and empty, their lids lie against the stone biers they rest atop. One bears the name Rosavalda Durst and the other, Thornboldt Durst. As you give them a cursory inspection, you hear Ankita shout something from the dining area!
All - A grick reveals itself and attacks! Let's roll for initiative! Only Zindarik is surprised by the sudden assault, so everyone will get to act during the surprise round except him.

Before Baldwin can enter the room to the south he hears Ankita's shout. Whipping his head around and moving back into the room with the table, he sees Zindarik face to face with a grick. He quickly readies himself for battle, drawing his javelin and spreading his wings, propelling himself over the table and into the other corner near Ankita with a powerful flap of his wings.
Baldwin - The pallets reveal hidden lice and rat nests to you.
Baldwin recoils from the pallets and thinks to himself how he longs to fly in the sky and be rid of this place.
"Let's keep moving forward!"
Baldwin begins to climb the stairs whenever the rest of the party is ready, so as to not be split apart.

She puts her shield down to get both hands on the staff, Attack: 22 Damage: 7

Baldwin - It seems to be well constructed and solid. You could attempt to break the lock. If you'd like to try you can roll an attack and damage.
Seeing how well the lock is constructed, Baldwin strikes it in anger with his javelin, half heartedly thinking it might just break
Attack roll: Attack: 13 Damage: 9
Baldwin then goes over to Ankita and Zindarik, nodding in agreement with Ankita's last statement
Once the rest join them, Ankita leads them up the first set of stairs and looks and south to see what she can.

Zindarik leads the way into the room to the south, circling the table in a clockwise fashion and examining the bones on the ground as he goes...
