"Interesting..." Thavriol murmurs softly. "Whatever it is sounds...sick," he says less softly but loudly enough to be heard. He continues to put on his armor with Perigord's help.
"I got no idea where they'll be come mornin'. We know where they be now, though, an' whether it be fightin' or healin' we need to be doin', best we be doin' it when we know where they are." Thavriol turns to the others. "Even if they run off when we get near, at least we'll see some tracks, know what we're lookin' for in the mornin'."
"Fine. Sam, maybe run fetch Nolla? Wouldn't want to abandon a friend, though I don't think you're right about the woodsmen being shifty. They seem respectable."
Thavriol and Samael head out into the woods, and the howling ceases. They both get a feeling of being watched, but don't spot any wolves or other creatures that could be doing the howling, and find no tracks.
Back at the fire, Peri sees multiple pairs of eyes reflecting firelight, all silently watching the camp. He's not certain where Thavriol and Samael have gotten to...
Nolla and the woodsmen all fall back asleep with the temporary reprieve from the howling.

Thavriol pauses, holding up a hand to to halt Samael. Then he activates his Divine Sense.
Divine Sense: The presence of strong evil registers on your senses like a noxious odor, and powerful good rings like heavenly music in your ears. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not its identity (the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, for instance). Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the hallow spell.
"I don't detecting anythin' particularly good or bad, Samael," the paladin says softly. "Unless you got some ideas, let's head back an' return in the mornin'."
Perigord gulps, and sheaths his rapier. He pulls out one of his chef's treats and sets it on the ground, at the very edge of the firelight, then backs up to the cooking area.
"Hey there, then. Y'all interested in some halfling cooking?"
He peers into the darkness to try and see what the things are, and watches the treat to see if one goes for the bait.

"so that reduces the possibilities, and increases them. where do you think they'll be in the morning?"
Nolla settles in, glad she had stayed inside the cabin with the woodcutters. She turns over and prepares to get back to sleep.
"Maybe we ought to be more prepared to heal these things than to fight them. Also, might be best to rest up before we lose the night."

"Fine. Sam, maybe run fetch Nolla? Wouldn't want to abandon a friend, though I don't think you're right about the woodsmen being shifty. They seem respectable."
"my apologies. we'll wait to fetch her in the morn."
"Yeah...let's see what we can see tonight," Thavriol agrees, then starts heading in the direction of the sounds.

"Well... all right. I can't see too well in the dark, so I'll stay by the fire."
Eventually those putting on armor get suited up, and head out to investigate.

11 survival.
Samael follows thavriol, not wanting him to die, but would've preferred to do tracking in the morning.
