Amotal sets down his swords and raises his hands to show he is now unarmed. "I believe there's a misunderstanding. We did not kill this man. We were engaging the drow who did to bring him to justice, but he managed to escape us just now."
The Watch members move aside as their captain comes forward, "YOU! I told you lot to keep the blood off the streets". The party recognizes the quite irate Captain Stagat. "First that ruckus at the warehouse, now this, this . . . mess!" He kneels down by the body, passing it over with an experienced eye. "Get them out of here. We'll sort this out at the local post."
Ten Watch members surround the party, and usher them out of the alley. Two more stand guard at the alley's entrance as they leave. The shrill pipe of one of their whistles has the citizens of the nearby Dock Ward streets, shuffling inside, while casting glances at the party of adventurers being escorted by the Watch.
The Watch squad marches the four adventurers to a squat but solid building with sturdy iron bars on its few windows and a heavy iron door. Beside the door hangs a green-and-gold lantern, glowing steadily, unlike the many lanterns of the Dock Ward which often go unlit. This lantern indicates this building as a post of the City Watch. The six of the squad lead the adventurers into the post while two remain on guard at the door in order to discourage any stragglers or lookie-loos.
The four are led to a cell and pushed inside. The door is slammed shut behind them and they immediately hear the sound of heavy bolts securing the cell.
“We had nothing to do with this person’s death.” Zera starts to protest, but then she goes along with the guards. “I’m sure you all will sort it out. If we need a reference, just ask the BlackStaff about us. They might not be tooo upset if you let us out soon.”
Veil, Zera, Amotal and Friar Xavier are left in the cell with no other interaction for the better part of an hour. Curiously, they notice that while they have been detained their weapons have not been taken from them. Even Amotal's swords have been placed in the cell with them.
Eventually, they hear the bolt on the door being manipulated. The door swings open and Captain Stagat enters followed by two guards who post inside the door and two more who post outside. One of the guards closes the door behind the captain after he enters.
"All right you innocents," the notes of sarcasm and skepticism hanging heavily on the last word, "while I believe you didn't kill that sailor, there is still the matter of disturbing the peace. We can't have fights erupting wherever you go. Waterdeep has maintained its position of stability through civilized discipline. So, start explaining what happened there and then I will see if we take you to a magistrate for assaulting a citizen, brandishing weapons without cause, and possible involvement in murdering a citizen." Then he adds, "... and your story better not involve hampering justice by trying to do the work of the City Watch! Who wants to start?"
"Hamppering you?" Veil says with a wide-eyed look, her tail swishing in frustration. "Never us." She shrugs and sighs. "We were returning from work outside of the city, and were just about to stop for a drink. we heard a noise and thought someone was in trouble. As we came across the now-deceased elf he was still alive. We watched a drow slice his head off, then had to defend our lives against the dark elf. That is when you showed up, just in time to keep the demonic elf from killing us too." She looks to all of the guards. "Is there some law against defending yourself against an attack, or were we suppose to just let that drow kill us without lifting a hand?"
Zera says “ well, we are innocent victims here- just trying to stay alive. The drow was skilled, he fought with a short sword- you can see he injured me. He decapitated the drunken victim with a single blow. He attacked us because we were witnesses. As I said, the BlackStaff would vouch for us. . “she shows the cuts.
Captain Stagat listens to each detailed account of the incident attentively. At the mention of the drow's abusive language regarding elves, he scowls a bit, but otherwise remains impassive. When the group has completed its account, Captain Stagat remains silent a moment, looking at a downward angle, but past those in the room. Finally he emits a grunt and stands up. "Alright, I believe you. Seems you ran into someone you probably would not want to tangle with." He nods to the guards who open the cell. "You are free to go. Just don't let me catch you 'investigating' things in the city without the appropriate license. And ... keep the blood off the streets!" He turns and exits through the cell door, from which you are free to leave.
The guards lead the group back to the streets of the Dock Ward, a bit bruised, tired and now hungrier for not having had the chance to get food or drink before engaging with the murdering Drow.
"Well I am off for home." Veil says. "We can get something to eat, to drink, and then get to bed." She yawns wide as she finishes. "it is getting late after all."
Not wishing to risk another encounter this evening, the group climb aboard the first dray they can catch going in the right direction. The fare of 2 nibs each seems a simple fare to get back to the relative safety of Trollskull alley.
Exiting the dray, they walk the short way back to the manor and make what repast they can in the Tavern before setting off to their respective beds.
When Veil takes her leave of the group to go to bed, she exits the Tavern. She walks to the side external stairs granting access to the manor apartments above. As she is about to tread upon the first step, a flapping catches her ear. She turns warily to see another small flying snake with a message attached.

Veil sighs as the watch show up. "Like usual, you come too late to be helpful." She goes along without putting up a fuss though.

"What can you tell me of this drow you fought?"

Veil considers and then gives a detailed description of the drow, as best as she can anyway. (Have to tell me if there is a check needed for that.)
(assume you can give general description as you have so far, roll an Int check to see if you can flesh in more details)

(Nope. Veil rolled a 2, with her -1 modifier, that is a modified 1. Rolled on the game log.)
Zera 2.
“he was quick, and it was dark. But I remember a little about him” zera says, and shares anything she can remember.

Zera is tempted to say something flip, but resists the urge and heads out.

“Agreed. I need a rest.” Says Zera.

Hope you have news regarding the Dock Ward.
