Edrik follows along behind the group, watching as they check out the various doors. His shortbow is still in hand, ready in case anything pops up. As it seems the focus has turned to the door Eldeth is at, he finds a spot well away where he can see the door while she tries to open it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shaking his head, Edrik stows his bow away and approaches the door (5). "I should have known! Let's just see." He attempts to pick the lock. Presuming he's successful, he then backs up again to allow Eldeth to try to open it.
Matthias would stare deeply at the map, fairly tired and confused how Barkas can be so optimistic and mentally alive after these past few minutes. He'd look to the psudeodragon upon his shoulder and ask,"Do you know if we're any closer to those 2 pillars and that book?"
Edrik's attempt to pick the lock fails, but, fortunately, his attempt doesn't trigger any sort of trap.
Looking to Matthias, the pseudodragon motions toward the door that Edrik has attempted to open. Once again, Elonath sends an image of a chest upon the floor between two pillars. This image, however, has an additional piece of information: flashes of lightning shooting forth from the pillars.

"Well, according to Elonath past this door is our phylactery. Though it seems there is some sort of lightning trap so let's try to get this over with, huh?" Matthias would ask Edrik to step aside for a moment to try and give a good firm shove to the door on his own just to see what would happen. He made sure not to kick so that he wouldn't wish to damage the lock. If anyone wants to help him shove open the door can be his guest.

Faloniir's attempt to unlock the door is successful. Opening the door and peering into the room reveals exactly what Elonathhas been telepathically sharing with the group: a relatively small room with two identical pillars. Between those pillars sits an iron chest. The air in this chamber is alive, dancing with some unseen energy, and you are reminded of Elonath's image of lightning shooting forth from the pillars.
From where you stand, just outside the doorway, you see no signs of life...
Faloniir offers, "I say we send the dragon in, it seems to have knowledge of this place and its dangers. It has a greater chance of avoiding those dangers than any of us. All in favor?" He says as he raises his hand.
“If we were determined to send the weakest one of us into danger, we would be sending you instead of the dragon,” the Kenku mimics, folding gaunt, feather-covered arms as Rasp’s gaze levels over Faloniir. It seems Rasp frequently disapproves of Faloniir’s opinions. “The dragon knows the layout of this lair better than any of us. It should be protected.”
Faloniir smiles in a way that doesn't reach his eyes, "That's not very nice. Is there a problem Rasp? I'd rather not dive headfirst into danger with someone who wishes me ill. If you have a problem, say it, otherwise I would prefer if you kept your petty insults to yourself."

Faloniir will try to pick the lock if Edrik will lend his Thieves' Tools again.

"Is the chest bolted down?" Eldeth asks. "If not we could try pulling it out of the room with a rope."

(Making the assumption that someone in the party would assist Matthias's effort to force the door open. Advantage roll: 10)
Like all the other doors in the Duchess' basement, this one is sturdy and withstands the attempt to open with force.
What about with deft fingers?
(Waiting to make sure Edrik is on board)
"Sure, why not," Edrik says with a sigh as he lets Faloniir use the tools again. He grumbles about the darn thing not being even he tried it.

Are there any loops or hand-holds on the chest, or are there any obvious signs that the chest is affixed to the floor?

The chest is devoid of handles of any sort, and there's no outward indication that its secured to the floor.

"Whoa, no, I've got a mage hand for a reason," Eldeth objects. "We can still loop the rope around the chest and drag it out."
