Faloniir will turn to Eldeth and regard her for a moment with a raised eyebrow before letting out a sigh and softening his face, "You're right Eldeth. After witnessing first hand the tragedies caused by this... thing, I forgot the mission... Thank you for reminding me why we're here."
After Matthias says his peace and the group starts to talk, he'd kneel before Lady Haventree and attempt to stabilize her or at least try to determine if she will be fine or he'd have to call a medic.
Uninterested in parleying with the Lich, Faloniir will join Matthias, "I apologize for my rashness. I... forgot myself when I witnessed the terrible deeds committed in that lair. Thank you for helping me see reason and... likely saving my life. Here." Faloniir will hand Matthias the silver coin, "I believe I owe you this, but you also have my gratitude and respect." Faloniir will then smile and say, "Which is worth considerably more."
Faloniir will then help Matthias stabilize Lady Haventree.
Matthias would struggle a bit, he was not used to really helping others, but this was the employer and a Harper official, she can do a lot for Matthias. Suddenly, a second pair of hands came from the corner of his view to help tend to Lady Haventree. Hearing Faloniir and what he had to say, he'd accept the silver coin and nod. "No problem. I'm honestly surprised someone like you got effected by the lair. And no, you absolutely owe me this, a deal is a deal." He'd smirk, flipping the silver in his hand between helping the noble. "Gratitude accepted. In-truth you aren't a terrible combatant, you just had the unfortunate luck facing the undead and having to compete with me."

Faloniir will respond to Matthias, "I do not like seeing the innocent suffer, nor will I tolerate a bully. I am interested in earning my coin back, plus interest if you're up for another wager sometime?"
"And so you'll rush a lich for it? It isn't worth dying over." He'd say, now doing a fairly decent job now at stopping any bleeding or trauma. "And I'm always up for sport. You already seen what I'm capable, didn't miss a single shot."He muses, proudly.
Faloniir will respond, "Mayhaps to you friend, mayhaps to you."
At the DM's discretion, a successful DC 12 Insight check will reveal the following:
Due to Faloniir's childhood on the streets of Baldur's Gate, watching innocents suffer and bullies thrive by preying on those incapable of defending themselves, he has very rigid beliefs of what is right and wrong, good and evil. Some might consider him naïve and he knows this, but he associates no value with the opinions of others versus his own morals and beliefs. He knows who he is and what he believes in.
Zaldara's demeanor quickly shifts to that of resignation. As Matthias and Faloniir tend to Remallia, the lich provides the information you seek. "I know of this affliction, kenku. Listen well."
The Duchess of Rot conveys that she has been researching the death curse and knows that the only thing that could cause such a phenomena is an ungodly necromantic device called the Soulmonger. What its purpose is beyond consuming souls is unclear to her, but she does know that the amount of dark energy gathered by the Soulmonger is enough to power an undead being like the world has never seen. Zaldara cannot pinpoint the exact location of the Soulmonger, but she has been able to determine it is somewhere in Chult.
Concluding her summary of what she knows about the Soulmonger, Zaldara fixes her gaze on Eldeth. "My spellbook, young wizard."
Rasp remained silent for a second after Zaldara concluded. Expressionless, the Kenku returned his talisman into his pocket and gave a single, curt nod towards Zaldara. "I thank you for the information. You cannot be faulted for your own research, but let this attack prove that if you decide to aid this curse in any way, you will be swiftly executed."
Rasp's gaze found Eldeth. He had found what he wanted to know. "Return the spellbook, Eldeth. An agreement is an agreement, and we have found the information we sought."
"I thank you, Duchess, for sharing your knowledge with us. I apologize again that the Harpers chose confrontation as their first method of communication, and I appreciate your grace in aiding us. If we find we need your expertise once we find the source, I hope we may be able to call upon your expertise again, in more peaceful terms." She'll use her mage hand to send the spellbook over to the duchess, giving a (very) awkward curtsy as she does so.
Edrik stands back and watches the exchange quietly. Even with the information in hand, he still keeps a wary eye towards the lich. But eventually his focus moved to the pair helping Lady Haventree. "How does she fare? This information about Chult needs to get to the Harpers. I'm not sure who we should be telling though."
The Duchess of Rot takes hold of her spellbook and says nothing as she turns to walk away. Moments later she vanishes into her dark, ominous tower.
Remalia stirs and arises, clearly shaken by the battle but extraordinarily relieved by the outcome. Wasting no time, she walks with you to The Diviner, where Callbrax is waiting. “Well done,” she remarks. “Brave souls are all of you, and fearless on behalf of Rennika’s memory.”
As you step aboard the keelboat, Remalia stays ashore. “Now we must return to Baldur’s Gate and speak with Syndra Silvane. I wish for you to speak with her of what you have done and what Zaldara has revealed. And, of course, there is that matter of payment for your work.”
Faloniir will mark the location of the tower in his mind, intent on returning and putting an end to The Duchess of Rot another time.
When paid, Faloniir will accept the coin with a large smile, New beds, quality food, and more for the little ones! To Lady Haventree he will say, "Of course m'lady, though there is something I need to do before we are to leave the city or place ourselves in danger again. I need no more than a couple of hours to see it done, then I am fully committed to your cause."
Eldeth gives herself an all-over shake, like a wet dog. "Managed not to get blasted into oblivion by a lich while holding their spellbook, I'll call that a good day." She turns to Barkas. "Don't happen to have anything stronger than ale on you, do you?"
Upon getting paid, he'd thank the mysterious Syndra Silvan as well as asking for a favor to put-in a good word for him with Lady Haventree for joining The Harpers in the future. Afterward he'd get a nice warm meal with some ale at the Shawm'n'Lute. He'd also give a toast to Rennika, being in the chipper mood that he is. After getting his energy back up, he'd find a tailor to stitch his damaged shirt as well as attempt to wash the blood off of it and walk the town of Baldur's Gate shirtless.
After the successful negotiation, Barkas shakily pours a mug for all the last of his batch of Goat Scrotum Ale. He marks notes on his star map, notes about Zaldara and her tower. He is exhausted and sleeps heavily on the first night of the voyage back to Baldur's Gate. A special place has been made forElonath, always feeding him first before he eats himself, making him a nice place to nest on his chest as he snoozes. On the second day of the voyage, he begins brewing his next special batch of beer, Squirrel Nut Stout, another strong brew with pecans and nutty overtones, with a ginger kick at the end. As he walks off the gangplank onto the pier in Baldur's Gate, he says "Well, what's next? Oh yes, the reward! I have a few things I would like to purchase, before we head to Chult. How exciting! I know that is where the next step in my journey, in _our_ journey together. Come Elonast! Your perch awaits!" He scoops out his familiar spot on his backpack and follows everyone back to the Shawm'n'Lute.
Faloniir will quaff his mug of Goat Scrotum ale, savoring the rich and complex flavor. Later, after sampling the Squirrel Nut Stout, he comments that he prefers the strong, earthy, not too hoppy taste of the Goat Scrotum with its nutty overtone and the fruity grapefruit finish.
