"I am very suprised I'm saying this, but am looking forward to getting into a city again. I want a comfy bed and some hot well made food, and maybe do some trading."
How long are we thinking we will still be travelling?
Randy shakes his head. "Tracks are all but obliterated by all the stomping the horses did. We might be able to pick something up if we circled the camp a few yards out, but I'm not too eager to go wandering around in ones or twos right now. Let's not give the displacer beasts an opportunity for dessert."
In the morning light, the returned horse is a bit scratched up, but more from a mad dash through the woods than a mauling. Evar confirms it is the one that broke loose of its own accord, the one the displacer beast put tentacles to never returned.
Garvey seems to be making an effort to understand the finer points about sand.

After what seems like a long delay of checking over the wagons and making sure that the preservation magic still holds on the various collection of hydra and bulette parts, Kayleera signals that they are ready to depart, minus one horse from the night before, but otherwise in good shape.
As the wagons rumble onward, you while away your time in various ways, for Randy and Dornikal, at least some of it spent in teaching and educating your new charges in the form of Hank and Garvey. Bimmfur seems to have attached himself to the young tiefling, and Ulmwin seems at times lost in conversation with his own mind. Coljin is enjoying being in the forest, feeling the presence of his goddess close at hand.
Within the first fifteen minutes of being underway, Evar rides back, a bemused expression on his face, holding some leather and metal in his hands. "She-beast that took the horse returned the tack."

Most of Ulmwin's recent grumbling toward the group is about how they "totally could have taken them", apparently still not fully over what happened, but he slowly gets over it as travel continues. He spends most of his time writing, seeming to daydream...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Randy makes an aside to Hank. "Let's see if we can get a little extra help for the rest of today." He reaches into his pouch and casts the fluff he finds there.
With a puff of smoke, Randy's panther re-appears. Randy pets it on the head. "Okay, boy. Let's scout ahead." Randy takes Hank and the panther with him, letting Evar know what they're up to. " I don't want any more surprises like last night."
There's not much in the way of game as you continue onward, perhaps reinforcing Dornikal's thought that the displacer beast is denning somewhere nearby with kits. Randy spends the morning pointing out edible plants and fungi to Hank, and perhaps more importantly, those that are only edible once. After a stop for a quick lunch, you continue onward, and by the time you've descended out to the edge of the foothills, game has become more abundant. Not wanting to take the time to dress one of the deer that the panther sniffed out, you settle for some hares, Hank quite proud of the one he manages to hit. After dressing them out, the three of you stop by a swift moving stream, and manage to use some of the offal to entice a few fish into coming back to camp with you. All in all, a pleasant day of travel, and one devoid of the dangers that have otherwise followed you in recent months.
Scouting a bit further along the stream, you find a place where the stream eddies into a large pool after dropping down a short waterfall, for any wishing to brave the bracing mountain water, still chill even in the late summer heat, it would provide a secluded place for washing up, and there is a flat area, not studded with rocks nearby for camping.

Dornikal looks skeptically at the waterfall, but would take a scrub.
He would also take time with Garvey showing how to lay rocks against each other and look at the finer sand near the river and compare it to the coarse sand from earlier.

Randy, Hank, and the panther make a full circuit around the camp site and the pool and waterfall. Randy pays particular attention to the pool and the ground around it, checking for tracks.

"Aye, it looks good at first but ye'll see the mortar will be too crumbly with grains that size. Come over here..."
He'll show Garvey by scooping up a handful then walking to some better sand and scooping up a handful to compare with.
"This is better, not great, but better. Ye see the difference in size?"
(There is very little difference, but Dornikal is working with what he's got.)
"We'll save this and ye keep an eye out for better sand today and we can compare."
Randy and Hank will spend the morning checking out the tracks from last night's events.

Dornikal chuckles at a joke, surely placed by Dumathoin, in his mind. He then sets about helping breakup camp.

Randy and Hank look the tack over with a certain degree of interest. "Well, it's better than nothing I guess."
There's a bit of blood still left in the stitching and some of the metal hardware, but it's intact.

Dornikal nods at the tack,
"She was hurt, doesn't want a fight with a party our size, bat for her and her kits. She left a peace offering."
He looks around and mutters,
"Smart enough to leave the tack, smart enough to set a trap."
He's happy to put her behind them.
Hank is a bit surprised by the sudden panther, but once it's clear that it is closer to a pet than a displacer beast, he settles a bit.

Coljin will absolutely be taking a bath. He will wait until the others check the area for safety, and then wade in.
He experiments with the armor, seeing if he can get it to change shape to be small enough to fully wear, yet be just a 'swim suit' for a bit.
