"Ye could say that he best give up before he gets hurt, but fair enough. How long ye boys been out here?"

Ulmwin chases up to right beside the guy, before finally giving him a whap right over the head with his rapier. If possible, he will also try to estimate just what caliber of person he's dealing with- Just how much one good hit would hurt, and whether or not he might need to use some heavier stuff than but his weaker weapon attacks.

Attack: 21 Damage: 4

"Really sorry about this! Can we truly not do this the easy way?!"

"Yeah, you can fork right off!", the fellow replies, whirling about as the rapier takes him in the shoulder. Ulmwin sees a tanned elven face under the hood as a shortsword is drawn and rapidly thrust twice upwards.

Attack: 8 Damage: 7
Attack: 14 Damage: 8

((He's trying to finish off your mount first, as it is clearly starting to falter. He doesn't seem overly slowed by your attack, but you easily hit him.))

The fly dips under the first thrust, but the second one punches through one of the compound eyes, and with a final buzz, it clatters to the ground in figurine form along with a trio of arrows and a gnome.

((No falling damage as you were low enough))

The elf whirls and dives into the foliage.

((Ulmwin can take an opportunity attack.))

Randy picks his way down the far embankment.

Attack: 22 Damage: 8

He hisses as the gnome finds flesh again, pushing swiftly through the dense underbrush and moving rapidly away from Ulmwin.

((Difficult terrain, and he'd be dashing except he used his action, so doesn't get too far, Ulmwin can still make him out through the undergrowth.))

((suppose I ought to have asked for a check for Ulmwin to keep from going prone when his fly vanished, but we'll say it was basically landed at that point and it was an easy drop.))

Ulmwin quickly snatches up the statuette, before a quick magical lyric springs from his lips. And moments after, he is moving much swifter than before- Catching up to the elf with ease. (Casting expeditious retreat as a bonus action)

And then immediately whallops him again.

Attack: 13 Damage: 6

"You realize how ridiculous you're being, right? The only reason I've not had magic outright destroy you is because it's not exactly gentle! You think I won't if I'm forced to?!"

Ulmwin easily catches up to the fleeing elf, but the extra speed throws him off, and his rapier goes wide.

"And I've given you every chance to let ME GO!"

The elf returns the thrust with two of his own.

Attack: 23 Damage: 9
Attack: 20 Damage: 8

After striking the bard, he turns and flees again.

((Concentration checks and an opportunity attack, he again makes it 15ft through the dense underbrush.))

Randy gets across the ravine, but isn't able to get a good hold and slips back a few feet on his initial attempt. The sounds seem as if the last 'birdwatcher' is fleeing away from the rockslide, generally in the direction of the wagons, but deeper into the woods.

C = Coljin, E = Evar, R = Randy, W = Wagons, pink = general area Randy hears a ruckus from, seems to be heading in direction of arrow.

Randy growls to himself and attacks the slope again.

Athletics: 12

Ulmwin's spell drops, and again the sudden change in speed has his rapier thrust go wide.

(Well the question was mostly if I'd hit, which evidently I did not, but still good to know. Concentration on the spell lost too.)

"Probably, you know! But you expect me to just leave without knowing the why when it's obvious you're up to no good?!" Ulmwin says, annoyed by the fact he has to pull out all his stops just because he can't just blast this guy from a safe distance which is his usual MO. Well, he could, but he's not actually been lying when he said he'd rather not do that. Though he was probably lying about the part where he'd blast him if given no other option. Everything did point to "common crook", but... As he uses expeditious retreat yet again, and catches up to melee, he tries something else again from melee range- After circling around him, as if to make it harder to keep running in that direction.

"I care not if you're a common crook, but we've dealt with worse. Look, just come down with me to my and your friends- I promise we will not hurt any of you all, and things will be much better for you if you just cooperate!"

(Trying Suggestion again)

((Not able to do Expeditious and Suggestion in the same turn, if you cast as a bonus action, you can only cast an action cantrip. Let me know which you want to use!))

"Things'll be better? How?", he asks quizzically, turning around and pushing back his hood.

Ulmwin seems to give what seems to be a genuinely relieved smile when the magic finally takes hold. Starting with a little gesture for him to start moving, ahead of him, as he answers. While he no longer needs to be, he does seem to be somewhat genuine in his next statement.

"Well, what do you think? Is it gonna sound and feel better if you just come willingly in a show of good faith, or if you'd have to be hunted down? Come on, let's go."

The elf seems puzzled be the questions, but feels compelled to follow, picking his way through the underbrush to join Ulmwin.
