"It seems like it's every wagon for themselves here. Though as I said, I think I found our... friends..."Thufir says. "As for hunting... in my old group we sent the scouts out for that. My job was more for muscle."
As if on que while the group is deciding on who goes. A deer bounds over Thufirs head and before anyone can react, a multitude of them pass thru the caravan and disappear into the forest. But what you see next astounds you. Out of bow shot a majestic stag the size of a giant elk, with golden fur and antlers, stops and looks at you wearily. Then he too bounds into the forest.
Dorin says "Get, that one for me as a trophy and I'll give ye 500 gold"
Thufir just looks to the dwarf in surprise, thinking to himself, "He's got 500 gold for a damned trophy and barely pays us even a living wage?..."and then looks to the others to see their reactions to herd of deer passing through.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fargen leans back as the deer bounds through the camp, raising an eyebrow. "Aye, I often let the ranger folk hunt but that's quite a bounty there and I'm a sporting fellow..." Fargen speaks in a hushed tone to Thufir, Nobody, and Lorban "I wouldn't mind 'hunting' up some more info on the back wagon..."
Fargen asks Moradin for owl's wisdom. "I'll do the tracking, but I'm shit with a bow. Who will join me?" Fargen grabs his warhammer and follows the stag's trail (14)
Lorban is attentive but unresponsive to the sudden appearance of the herd. However, Dorin's offer elicits a double take from him. He looks at the others quizzically, as if anticipating a punchline. But Weld's lead snaps him out of it. He unslings his bow and catches up to the dwarf.
It's only for a second, but a hint of greed crossed Nobody's face hearing the payout. But then he shook himself out of it. Fargen's comment gets a raised brow. Bfore he put together a coherent thought to answer, the dwarf with his fellow tiefling hot on his trail. Looking to Thufir, he'd shoo/motion the Dragonborn to get after the other party members, then regards Dorin.
"W-will you be alright i-if we all go. That beast looked a bit on the mighty side. Perhaps even, uhm, magically enhanced in some way." He asked warily of Dorin for assurances. Once he had them, a brief mental message finds its way to his familiar in a request for Yanda to stick around the wagon and keep an eye on things. And if anything should go sideways, he was to come find the tiefling. In the meantime, Nobody would then take off running and trying to catch up with the others.
If there's no assurances though from Dorin, then he'd, well, pop a squat and stay on guard while the others went on the hunt. Such was his thinking at least before considering Fargin's comment again and ultimately mustering the courage to 'let Yanda roam over to' the caravan back wagons. Just to keep an eye on them until he found an opening to get a closer look at their cargo with Nobody sensing through him.

"Understood!" Without further complaint, Nobody hurried after the others until at the tail end of the group. As he'd unfortunately lack in the woodsman department in terms of skill, the tiefling offered what help he could in identifying or reaffirming things from a bookish stand point when invited to speak, but otherwise remained quiet as to not disturb the others efforts on the hunt.

Fargen speaks the words to enhance his senses. He gets up and heads off in the direction of the gray stag. “Follow me, I’ll see if I can catch this trail.”
Lorban, Fargen and Nobody set off tracking the huge golden stag (correct me if that was everyone that left.) Fargen with the wisdom of a woodsman tracks The stag and its herd deeper into the forest. They soon come upon a familiar scene swarms of spiders surrounding several deer shaped cocoons. None are large enough to be the stag. But you doubt that the swarms could of taken the deer down on their own.
"Well, that meat is not likely to still be any good too." Nobody quietly joked. "But my goodness. The wilds are more lousy with spiders than even I expected." He looks worriedly to Fargen chewing his lips in hesitation at first before committing to asking, "Think you can pick up a trail if we go around this spot? The Biggun that is?"

Not to be left behind, Thufir tags along as well. Seeing the stag he says, "what could allow such an infestation of these here?"

So, no stealth? Also with a 21 nature check Lorben notes more webs up in the trees the webs seem to be made by a much larger creature
