Tom steps outside into the cool air with the party and then turns to Grudnik. "To answer your question, friend, I have spent a lot of time crossing the lands. My skill in tracking is fairly well-honed, and if we are going to be in a forest, more the better. That, above all else, is my favoured terrain. I should be able to hasten our approach and approximate the size of the pack, should we come in through the aforementioned woods. As for traps, I don't how much time we'll have to set much of anything up, but I can definitely aid you all in hiding yourselves should we attempt an ambush." Tom thinks for a moment, then says. "If you did want to try to set a trap, perhaps we could try a snare with that rope of yours. I believe I have some as well. As for supplies, I haven't got much coin but I wouldn't be opposed to getting equipped." He looks around, then gives a smile. "Well, if it is going to take us a few hours, perhaps we had better set to walking! Someone among us secured a map, I hope?"
"I believe Sanctity has the map, so we know where we are goin and can leave as soon as he is done inside. Sounds like you will be leading the way", Grundik replies to Tom.
He looks back toward the tavern, "I really was hoping for a proper meal before travelling once more, but rations will have to do", he says, eager now to be on the way.
Sanctity gets up ready to leave, somewhat satisfied with the rope, but unsure if it will hold out if they capture one alive. "I think it's time for us to leave."
"All right then, let's go!" After making sure everyone is outside and ready to go, Tom takes a glance at the map in Sanctity's hand. After determining the direction, Tom urges the group into motion, leading them away from the village. Been a while since I did anything in a group. This should be a good time. He thinks as they walk.
As a side note, Forest is Tom's Favored Terrain as a Ranger, and so he will be able to add those benefits to any navigation that we do within a forest.
The party exits the library and, with Tom's superb guidance, successfully makes it to a large, spacey den. A small, charred-ou campfire and a few logs log themselves in the cavern, with nothing of importance (or werewolves) insight.
The night shines onward, but a sleek sun arises from the East, as foretold to the party by Tom's exploration knowledge.
The librarian wasn't ... lying about the were folk. There would be no reason to, as she is a frail, old woman who lived enough through life.

Grudnik looks over to Tom, who seems to know the most about tracking. “Can you tell when last this camp was in use? And by what?”, he asks a bit out of his depth himself in the forest.
He felt it unusual to find the camp completely abandoned, but maybe this was normal for were beasts.

Tom takes a moment to look around the den, looking for any clues as to the number of creatures and how recently they were here. Survival 14
As a note, in the forest, Tom's proficiency in survival is doubled, and when tracking creatures he learns the "exact number, sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area."
Regardless of how many there are, Tom will say to the party "Well, were we planning on setting up some traps? We should probably get started if so. I've got a shovel if you want to try for a pit trap, and I think we all have rope, so we could definitely try to make snares. In any case, we should work fast and set a guard, we don't know when they're going to come back." He pauses to think for a moment, looking at the hint of light on the horizon. "Come to think of it... it is coming on morning, so as creatures of the night they might be coming back soon. Perhaps we would be better off just preparing an ambush?"
Grudnik moves to leave the cavern. “If we are to ambush the were beasts I would rather be hidden outside the cavern, than trapped in it”, he says.
He moves outside, looks around for sign of the creatures and then proceeds to hide among the trees within sight of the den but not along a path they might use.

"Put the pit just inside the door, so if they try to go inside they will definitely fall. I'd say make it at least 10 feet deep, though deeper might be good so the fall would do some serious damage. If any of you have a spell that could conceal this, that would be great, otherwise I'll help you hide it." Tom starts to look around for branches to cover the pit with. Once he finds enough, he will coat the pit in them and then put dirt over top of it, so that the ground looks natural but will break away if anything walks over it. Survival 22
Once this is done, Tom will conceal himself in the trees, giving himself the high ground in some branches or the like. 6
Sanctity nods and uses mold earth to dig 20’ or however far they can, whichever is shorter. They then cover up the staricase part with the loose earth they moved, leaving only a vertical drop and a lot of loose earth. “I don’t have a way to cover it. What do you want me to do with the excess earth?”
"Leave some to cover the tree branches once I put them over this hole, and with the rest, I suppose just put it in a corner of the cave, maybe somewhere they won't see as they walk in?"
Tom successfully found a singular clue alluding to the location of the werebeasts. Faint footprints follow throughout the cave but aren't visible once the cave's silky stone turns into forest dirt. Tom doesn't seem to hide well however ... only a few leaves are scattered among his body. So much for his ranger training and proficiency... But that's not sarcasm! Tom also made a very, very realistic trap
Grudnik hides better than Tom's attempt, providing a sturdy bush askew from the camp. In the bush, however, his vision is greatly obscured, and doesn't exactly see anything through the thick bristles and branches.
Sanctity makes a sizable hole using Mold Earth.
Brenward pokes and stirs the old ashes of the campfire. Perhaps they were from yesterday? Or sometimes earlier... Either way, these ashes are quite old, at least a day's worth.

Stann pulls a coil of rope from his pack, "Could tie 'em up with this, although if we kill 'em it'll make travelin' em easier."
Grudnik nods at Stann, "Probably better than forking out money on anything else", he says in approval of the rope.
