"Yes Abrohom. So you know about Brassman? I think one of my Handsmen know who the other victim is but I need to let the Sheriff know first."

"I hope you don't mind but I let your Hand know of the double murder. I also asked them to be on the lookout for a young servant lad, Samel, who works for the Hazlucks. He was carrying a dark magick item last night which he dropped when pursued and I collected. Samel was on the verge of testifying but he had second thoughts and fled causing us a great deal of trouble. If you see him, arrest and restrain him and send word to the Sheriff. I don't think we are seeking him at the Hazlucks as yet but the Sheriff will let you know if so."

"We were holding Samel to be questioned by Seekers Cullen and Voda but for some reason both Seekers departed abruptly and without explanation. The Sheriff was highly displeased."

"There are a few other loose ends as well."

"Could you check up on a young brother and sister from up country staying at the Shepherds, Canna and Wilma. At the very least they need to register their spears but I am also concerned about their welfare."

"There was also an altercation involving a party of musicians led by Zed de Maclan. Zed did not impress me favourably and seemed much more assured than would a regular musician confronted by the Watch. I am told Zed is an innate sorcerer of minor power. If you have time could you visit their lodgings at the boarding house of their roadie, Oswan Rabal, with the name Ocean View that is at the north end of North Port. Make some excuse but I want Zed to be aware that we are keeping an eye on him."

[OOC: Just to clarify a few things:

1. Basilly Cullen and Midian Voda are both apprentice Seekers.
2. Major weapons, such as spears, do not need to be 'registered', they just can't be carried openly in the street without permission or steps being taken to make them less dangerous. What Dora did last night is probably sufficient. 
3. Guilliame told Dora that both Zed de Maclan and Oswan Rabal were both sorcerers, but it was Oswan Rabal who was the minor sorcerer, not Zed.

Unless, you tell me otherwise, I will assume that these minor changes have been made in what Dora told Handleader Yohannon.]

It seems that Abrohom already knows a lot about the death of Saladin Brassman and Samel's escape; these events were apparently big news when he fronted up at the office this morning for his pre watch brief. Fortunately, he says nothing about the incident with the night soil cart, but Dora doesn't know whether this is because he doesn't know about it or is just being polite. With regard to de Maclan, he says that since it looks like it is going to be a nice day, he himself will take a walk out to the Ocean View boarding house to check out this band of musicians.

Then, if there is nothing more that you want Dora to say to him, he wishes her a good sleep and hurries on his way towards the watchpost.

Dora turns and hurries towards the Sheriff's Office.

Dora is feeling the effects of her long shift by the time she reaches the main office and yawns mightily as she walks past the watchman on guard at the entrance. Behind the front desk stands, not a handleader, but a normal watchman: Watchman Liam Robson.

"Good morning, Handleader Wallus," says Watchman Robson. "Are you here to give your verbal report?"

"Right you are Watchman! Where is the duty Handleader?"

"I am afraid we are a bit thin on the ground this morning, what with what happened last night. The handleader is out liaising with the Seekers and the sheriff has asked me to substitute for them this morning... You must be tired yourself, come to think of it. You were in the thick of it."

"Mmmhhh, alright. Are you going to write this down?"

Watchman Robson picks up a quill and stands ready.

"We require immediate action to ascertain the identity of the second victim at Brassman's house. One of my Hand think they know of him."

Provide the name and address.

"We also need to be on the lookout for Samel, he has done enough tonight to justify his arrest for attempted thievery, fleeing from the Watch and being a general pest."

Summarise the following events to the Watchman:

Went to the Shepherds to see what was stirring up locals, describe the encounter with Zed de Maclan, the game of strength, Canna and Wilma (purposely not mentioning the jewel), the rather strange behaviour and appearance of Brutha Hazluk, the pursuit of Samel, and the finding of the vial.

Continue onto the events that followed Samels "capture", the summoning of the Seekers, the reading of the vial by Guilliame and that Guilliame has taken the vial for further analysis [OOC hope I remember that correctly?]

I briefly describe the events at Brassman's house. Including the behaviour of the Apprentice Seekers afterwards.

I describe Samel's escape and the cart crash focussing on what the Sheriff did not witness including the summoning of the healer.

Finish by stating that Handleader Yohannon will be visiting Zed De Maclan's accommodation and will be keeping an eye on Canna and Wilma as well as watching out for Samel.

"Have you got all that?"

"Yes, I believe so," replies Watchman Robson as he finishes writing. "You certainly have had a busy night, handleader. I hope you sleep well, now that your shift is over."

[OOC: Is there anything else Dora wishes to do before heading home?]

"Thanks, oh and one more thing. There was a drunk in here last night, who asked me check whether he could go. In the flurry of events I forgot to do so. Has he been released?"

Watchman Robson turns back a page in the log and then says, "Yes, he was allowed to go about a candle before sunrise."

"Thanks again Watchman. I am off home."

I leave the Office and start the journey home.

The morning is bright and clear as Dora wends her weary way home eastwards through the streets of the Scholars Ward towards the nearby residential area where the houses are not cheek by jowl as they are in the built-up part of the Ward. It has been a long night and she is looking forward to some sleep and a chance to relax before her next shift tonight.

The third candle of the day has already been called when she comes into sight of the house where she rents a room above the stable in the backyard. She is glad of this as it means it will be quiet; the children will have already left to go to temple school and the cart and the horse, if they are needed for the day, will have already been removed from the stable.

Letting herself in through the back gate, she enters the yard and then the stable, where she is greeted by the low neighing of the owner's horse.

[OOC: Although we have already worked on some of this background information, there are clearly a few things that need some more work. Please ask questions and if you have any suggestions, please feel free to suggest them.]

Say a few quiet words to the horse and go upstairs to room. Take off weapons, armor and uniform, wash and go to bed.

[OOC: Please make a Constitution saving throw, which for Dora is a d20 roll adding both her Constitution bonus and her Proficiency bonus because she is of the Fighter class. This gives her a total bonus to the saving throw of +4.

This is not because she is under any attack or anything, this is just something every character does for me to keep track of their relative health and wellbeing. The DC for a successful save is very low.]

Dora wakes some time later in the day feeling rested but hungry.

Dress, do some personal household chores and decide to head to cafe for a meal rather than preparing my own, after all it was an extraordinary night shift. Hoping to meet friend [OOC can I get some background on this fellow? Ta.] for a game of senet and to tactfully discuss some of the decisions I made last night that seemed to go awry. There will be news not for public dissemination but given the speed of the city's rumour mill, is highly likely my friend will already have heard of Brassman and the night soil cart at least. As well he may know something about Zed de Maclan and Maclan on the cart..

It is now too late in the afternoon for Dora to catch up with Nell without making a special, and unusual, trip to her home; Nell now lives on the main island and is busy with family duties at night.

Dora mainly catches up with Nell for lunch during her days off, when Nell is able to come to the local cafe the two of them spent a lot of time in when they were in the watch together. 

That doesn't mean Dora can't eat dinner out, but she won't be meeting up with Nell unless she wants to make the long trek across to the main island to reach Nell at home.]
