After Tulli illuminates the mimic, now that Bryella has dropped off, Noey gives a little grunt and pushes a hand upward, wind swirling and raising the mimic another five feet out of range of anyone randomly running into it, but also keeping it out of range of the ceiling (I think it is high here?).
Over her shoulder she calls out, "I got this for, like ten minutes, how are we doing on getting teacher up in here?" Then she approaches the mimic, with a grateful nod to Rhydian and his quick thinking with the rations. She addresses the mimic from a safe distance. "Hey there, uh, critter. So sorry for all the zapping and hitting and stuff, we were just a lot scared, because we're new and dumb. Do you, um, have a name? Maybe you're a... um, student? Or," her face pales a little, "A teacher? Or, well, in any case, we are very sorry."
Action: Raise mimic a little more, out of melee range, with ongoing Levitate (which lasts ten minutes or concentration)
*The ceiling is a good forty feet above you.*
The mimic finished chewing the rations and lunges at Noey, but it's far too high up to reach her.

"Oookay. So, not a friend." Noey looks around to see if anyone seems to have gone for help, while holding the mimic where it is. Her hair floats fetchingly in the breeze.
What are the other (non-party) students doing? Any adults?

The other students seem to have fled the nearby area. However, a kindly owlin dressed in teacher's robes seems to be hurrying towards them from across the Biblioplex.

“Does this university have a zoo?” Tulli asks. “It should totally have a zoo. Munchy here could be the first star attraction!”
"It wouldn't surprise me if Witherbloom had some sort of menagerie, but I think a mimic might be a bit difficult to keep. You'd have to worry about it eating part of the display and masquerading as the missing piece."
"Students," the owlin intones in a soft, almost melodic voice. "Were you the one who handled this bizarre occurrence? I can't recall any of those old costume trunks bearing even a hint of magic."

“Oh, so, you don’t know Munchy?” Noey glances up at the gnashing chest. “Yes, we all rushed over because we’re braver than we are smart!” She laughs. “Where should I put it down?”

"Don't you worry. I can take care of it." The professor flicks her wand, and for a moment, nothing happens. A worried frown flicks across the owlin's face. Then mimics eyes close and its tongue retracts, reverting back into an ordinary chest.

Noey looks skeptical. “And where should I put this perfectly normal chest?” It remains floating for the moment.
"I assume it was being used by the Live-Action Roleplaying Guild. As far as I can tell, they were unpacking costumes when it first went rampant. It's perfectly harmless now, though I'll be having a word with the equipment managers over at the Rose Stage."

Noey puts the absolutely normal chest down, the wind swirling and then dissipating. She puts her hands on her knees, bent over. “I’m glad that worked, usually things that move around are too squirrelly to pick up,” she says to the floor.
Straightening up, she watches as Amber approaches and then rummages through it, tensing up until it becomes apparent there will be no more biting.
Looking at the rest of the group, she nods at them. “You all are crazy, but I think you’re my kind of crazy,” and with a long legged step she sweeps Bryella up into a hug. “Especially you, stepping right in there! What we’re you thinking?” Putting the girl down with a grunt she runs a hand through her hair, then rubs her face.
”I need a drink. Is class over for today?”
