"Sounds good. I'm going to give the jail a casual once over. See if there's anything interesting to be gleaned from the outside." With that, Cyril sets off, using his staff as a walking stick, dressed as yet another traveler, as casual as can be.
The surge in visitors keeps the tent city’s beer garden packed. Pepper can use the lighthearted atmosphere to learn about the recent murders and other news. Ideal skills for investigating this location include Deception, Persuasion, and Performance, but she can instead attempt a Constitution save to outdrink those around her until they start talking too much... (Pick one and make a roll!)
Cyril wants to interview the prisoners, but that means first speaking to Tobias Luin. And Luin is rather unfriendly tonight. CYril can try to improve his attitude with a successful Insight or Persuasion check. (again - pick one and make a roll!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Under. The. Table. Pepper is drinking and making new friends and telling completely made up stories and listening to their stories and then drinking more.

"I'll head over to the inn, see if I can secure us some rooms and pick up on any local gossip," Ashe says, heading off in that direction. He spins a yarn about how the group is stopping over here in Wyrmwatch before moving on to another mining town in the Hope Territory to put down some roots.
Finding a possible avenue in which to check on the prisoners, Cyril engages the crotchety Luin in conversation, doing his best to keep the man talking and suss out some ideas of how to gain the man's confidence.
Ashe heads off to the Inn to see what he can pick up there while securing some rooms. Staying at the inn costs 1 gp per night per person and includes meals.
Day 3 evening: Pepper - Beer Garden - One particularly happy drunk takes a liking to Pepper and confides in her that the accuser, Ekira, is a demon posing as an inquisitor. She’s used this trick to murder ten heroes up and down the countryside, and nobody is brave enough to speak up! Cyril - Mayor - Ashe isn't able to get any information out of the man. You get the feeling the mayor/sheriff is feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of this, but you aren't sure. Ashe - Inn - Ashe overhears two small children telling the cook in the kitchen that they saw one of the prisoners mutilating the body of the second victim. They barely escaped when the agent chased them. Pernach - ?? Kira - ??
The field near the tent city is abuzz with activity, with locals and visitors alike participating in a variety of festival games and sports. Since it's the evening, most of the events are closing up and the people are starting to head to the beer gardens or back to town, but Kira sees there are a few places still with a crowd where she can participate in the contests or just try to overhear something of interest (Perception or Persuasion).
One of the most popular events is a type of obstacle course race between several contestants (Acrobatics + CON save). Another one is a type of board game, like dragonchess (Insight + Performance). The third one still attracting a crowd is strange competition where players must scramble up a sheer tower using various colored hand and foot holds and be the first to ring a bell at the top (Acrobatics + Nature).
Pernach will go to the general store first. Assuming it's open at the time, they'll browse the wares with an ear open for tidbits. If nothing crops up, they'll go inquire of the shopkeep. Basically, asking if the infamous "guests" of honor had been in the shop, what sort of impressions they'd made, what they're being hung for....
If the store is already closed, they'll head to the Inn instead, with a similar plan of attack.
Orug Foram and Tessa Greenagh are the proprietors of the only general store in town. They are also incorrigible gossipmongers, and with the heavy traffic their shop has seen over the last week, they have accumulated and shared dozens of juicy secrets. Ideal skills for hearing relevant rumors are Deception, Persuasion, and Intimidation, though Pernach could also use a relevant Craft or background skill to find common ground with the proprietors.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pernach will wander around the store, "geeking out" about the quality of the building and its design (masonry tools proficiency?) as well as investigating any dried teas, herbs, potpourri, etc.
Pernach attempts to ingratiate himself with his comments about the building and its design, but his attempts fall flat. Still, he overhears one of the customers saying something about how the accused halfling Bastard had blood all over his hands and clothes when he was arrested.
Kira gives the obstacle course a go, but as a gnome she seems to never quite get ahead of the others. The crowd doesn't seem to mind, though, as somebody has to lose! As the game closes down, one particularly inebriated old townie pats Kira on the head and says, "There, there, little one. Best be off to yer bed, now." But she overhears the old man gossiping with some other old geezer. "Sad state of affairs we live in. Half o' folks near the Mournland got possessed by demons. Those poor agents most certainly killed 'em, but it’s not really their fault. Can't have demon-possessed folk runnin' 'round!"
(It's now night and time to turn in for the night. You can share the information you've gathered and make plans for tomorrow morning's investigations...)
Pepper rumbles in to the inn and settles at one of the tables. She's halfway into her cups, so she's noisy and brash but not rude or out of control. When (or if) the others arrive, she will get around to telling them about what she heard, which amounts to, "One guy swore that one of the accusers, named Ekira, is demon possessed. Or just a demon." She shrugs, like she's not sure what to do with that information.

Ashe nods. "Grim stuff, that. I overheard two children telling the cook here that they saw one of the accused mutilating the body of one of their victims, the second they killed. The agent apparently gave chase to them, as well."

"Did the say anything to indicate which of them it was? All I heard was that the halfling of the group was covered in blood when he was arrested." The lack of facial expressions makes it harder to tell, but Pernach seems a bit glum at having so little news.
(If you're interested in continuing this, please post where you want to investigate on the morning of Day 4. If the location was already described, pick your ability check and make a roll.
